Some lowsy outfit called at 6:30 am waking me up. I don't know what they are selling, but they are being put on my blocked call list!

I hope this works for you, but I would not hold my breath.  Even if it does,this may start back up the next time a skip tracer reviews the file.

You might try sending them a certified return receipt letter stating that you dispute any debt as they are calling the wrong person, and order them to cease any further communication, as required by Federal law.  You might also throw in, "since you have not been calling a debtor, the provisions of the TCPA may be applied if I decide to take action against you.

If that doesn't stop them, take a copy of your letter to a lawyer and let them have at them. (Or go pro se if you feel up to it.)

Before I tell you what I did, it's probably best i explain. I got a number for my corp use. I called once to tell them they are mistakenly calling me because I do not have any outstanding balances other than a mortgage. After numerous attempts, they refused to take me off their list. Outright said that "they are calling me for a past debt" but could not identify what debt that was. So i did the following:

1) Called 1-800-334-2814 -> pressed 0, and got transferred to collections
2) told them a random name
3) Said I paid a company to do a back track and found their company was the one calling
4) Asked that I be taken off their list or I was filing a complaint with the BBB and going to pursue all other remedies available for harassment. I let them know, the cell phone was for business purposes and was causing me a lot of trouble by getting 7-8 phone calls all hours.

They agreed to take me off their list and put me on a "Do Not Call List." Hopefully this helps.

This phone number is for Pinnacle Financial group. They call me numerous times a week from VARIOUS numbers. They're calling to collect for a t-mobile account. Typically when a debt collection company calls you it is via auto dialer. It usually takes a couple of seconds from the time you say hello to the time a rep answers you (the computer is connecting you to a live person.) Which is why you are greeted by silence when you answer. This is usually a dead sign of a collection company. Sometimes the computer drops the call before you are connected. Either way it's irritating. Debt collection companies do no have to abide by the do not call registry, as they are calling to collect on a balance owed and the registry is to protect people from soliciting or people trying to sell you something. BUT collection companies do have to abide by FDCPA Laws and if they have the wrong number and you explain that to them, they are not suppose to continue to call. The FDCPA is also the reason they do not leave messages, as it is againt the law for them to do so.

My thing lately is to hit the answer button on my phone, wait 2 seconds, and hang up.  I get a lot of calls from a lot of phone numbers to the same companies.  They never leave a message, or if they do it's for someone who is not me, and if you try to get them to remove your number, they don't listen.  Often, I would answer and they would just hang up.  So now, I answer and hang up.

these people call repeatedly.  if the machine picks up, a recorded message is left.  I usually pick up and then hang up as it is machine speaking.  I am sick of these calls.  Next time I am going to do what GJP does and demand full name, supervisor's name and then demand they contact me by mail only.  Maybe, just maybe, the calls will stop.

I received 8 calls from 330-752-1927 today between 1122 AM and 613 PM and many in the past week.

Since I don't recognize the number, I didn't answer it figuring if it was important they would leave a message. I guess it wasn't important as they didn't leave a message. There is NO law saying you have to answer your phone and I don't unless I want to, even if it is someone I know.

I'm going to report them to the do not call registry of which my phone is listed. I hate being called by sales and telemarketing people. If I do answer and find out it is someone trying to sell me something, I get very nasty with them, calling them a bunch of vulgar names, etc. and tell them to remove me from their list and never call me again.

Another thing I do is block them so they can't call me which is what I'm going to do with these jerks.

THis number is for Pinnacle Financial collection agency. Just piss them off by asking for their full name address and supervisors name then tell them you want only mail corrispondence only and they have to comply.
