Careful. These are Mexican scammers who pretend to be a family member in trouble who needs money. Some of them are smooth talkers and will greet you like they know you. It could either a man or woman but it's mostly men who make these calls. If you get an odd and unexpected call from a supposed relative, start asking them questions such as full name, where they live, and who his/her parents are. Also, call relatives to find out if it's true or not. DO NOT give them any information about you or other family members! Even if they do have information about you or a relative, deny everything. Don't worry, they won't come after you. They have my home address because my dad refuses to pay the extra fee to remove our info off the phone book. That's where they get their info from but they won't come after you. They called about a few times last year and once this year. The first time around, I almost fell for it. Sometimes I do pick up and I play along just to give them a really hard time.

My mom got a call from this number making her believe it was her nefhew. But then she got suspicious when he told her that he was involved in a car accident and that he needed money to pay for the damages. He was claiming that he had 2 checks 3500 and 2500 but that he could cash them right now and that he needed to borrow money. That was when my mom hanged up on them.

Prank Call
My mother in law got a call from these scammers yesterday saying he was was her nephew and she even asked oh so in so is this you so he got a name out of her and used the name she gave him. He than told her he was on his way back to Guatemala and he had a lay over in Mexico just waiting for his luggage and would be coming to visit her, but asked her not to tell anyone because it was a surprise. Than 10 minutes later he calls her back and proceeded to tell her that his luggage had been confiscated due to him carrying excessive amount of money $25,000 to be exact and asked her to send him $500 so he could pay the taxes and get his suitcase back and he would pay her back double once he arrived at her house. He even had a so called airort official call her telling her if she didnt pay he would be detained and asked her all kinds of imformation her family members names to verify her so called nephew was telling the truth, her cell number, etc. Luckily before almost heading to the bank to send money to a VERONICA OCHOA she called me and I told her right away it had to be a scam because I knew there was no way her nephew had that kind of money. So I called her nephew and sure enough he was at home in bed here in the US!! Please be aware and warn your family about these people who take advantage of others

My mom got a call from a guy from Monterrey, don't remember the phone #-could be the 331. The guy said he was her oldest grandson, my mom does Not have any grandsons. She cussed him out big time and he hung up and never called back. My mom's brother's wife fell for that scam and sent the guy $3,000, my uncle was pissed. Yesterday he got a call from the same guy asking if they sent the money. My uncle cussed that guy out big time. My uncle told my mom he has an investigator investigating this scam.

This number called me posing as my cousin, and said he was on his way from mexico then hung up. Called back and said he got stoped by a check point they found a gun in his truck and officers will make a deal with him. They needed a few hundred to get out of his situation. I believed him. I told my mother and she sent $300. Then they called back saying they will not release him they wanted $1,500 or he will get thrown in jail. I had called my uncle after the money was sent only to find that my cousin was not comming to the US and was at home fine. I tryed to get my money back but it was too late operator told me it had been cashed in * MONTERREY - NUEVO LEON *.  IF someone has any information on who this is or could be please let me know they scammed me they knew all my familys names & I want to catch these a***oles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My mother got the same call as the previous post only that "he" claimed he was in Texas the next day he called again saying he was in TJ Mexico being held for possession of a gun and continues to say that they'll let him go if we send money for his release... We made some investigation of our own and found out that this so called "nephew" was an imposter and that they only wanted money

They just try and get money from you, usually using information people provide against them. Either they try and keep on pretending its them (nephew) or try and threaten you by saying that they got info on you. My mother gave our address away and they kept calling asking for her and when we said they got the wrong number they said "well don't you live by so and so street" we just denied it and eventually had to change our number.

My wife got a call from someone claiming to be her nephew Diego from Zamora MIchoacan Mexico, that he was on his way to the states to buy  equipment. She called her parents down in Mexico and found out that Diego was at work and not on his way to the states. They are still trying to get a hold of my wife since she don't answer the phone anymore. What are this people trying to do or what are their intentions?

My mom got a call from this number with the same story as other posts.  Claimed he was a relative from Monterrey Mexico.  He said his name was Joe and he was coming to the states with equipment and wanted to know if he could stay with her.  She asked some questions because she really does have relatives from my dad's side of the family that live in Monterrey.  He said he would call her when he got in town for directions.  As of now, she has not heard from him in 2 days.  What is the deal with this?  What is the purpose?
