Been getting these robo calls for months. At least once a day.

Stop these annoying calls.  I am on the national do not call registry but they still call and bother my ill wife.

I know that the--deliberately obscure--name "Alabama"* attached to that number is a telemarketing business. It is probably contracted by many 'charitable organizations' to solicit 'contributions' to those organizations. I also know that--if I do speak to one of the associates--and ask them to stop calling my number--they will likely ignore my request. Likely my number will stay on their list--in hopes that one of their other associates may have better luck with me!

 If I could obtain *contact information about THEM (actual name of the telemarketing business and their street address) I could file a fomal complaint with my state's Office of Consumer Affairs of the state Attorney General's Office. Where do I get THEIR actual contact information?

The calls are coming from a telemarketing business. They use automatic dialing devices linked to computers that access phone directories from all over the country. From my experiences--they are contracted by various so-called charitable organizations to solicit contributions from whomever answers their calls. The dialing devices make hundreds of calls in rapid succession--without waiting for answers. When someone 'picks up' within 1 to 3 rings the associate manning the calling process stops the dialing process--temporarily--to pitch their 'spiel'. That causes the other calls--still being dialed--to 'hang up' before someone [else] can answer--that's what's happening to you. Unfortunately it is an ongoing process. And calling devices return to those numbers they had previously disconnected. Thus the calls--to [us] keep coming! It is apparently legal. And apparently does not violate any FCC rules. And because it is represented as a 'charitable' business it is also exempted by the National Do Not Call Registry.
   
 If you do answer and actually speak to one of the 'associates'--don't give them any information about yourself. If they know your name--it is only because they got it from a phone directory! Additional information given--will make you verniable to identity theft and sharing your contact information with other telemarketing businesses.

 Your best bet: If you are by your (land line) phone--check the Caller ID. Do the same with your mobile phone! And simply ignore those obscure--unidentifiable numbers--or let your answering device deal with them. Or 'pick up' for a couple brief seconds and hang up--on them--without saying anything!  You really don't want to actually talk to these people! Hope that helps you understand. When I answered, nothing about 2 seconds, then someone hangs up. So frustrating!!!Do not want calls from this number.
