This number actually called me, I didn't answer. Assumed it was telemarketing or a scam...being that I'm on the federal Do Not Call list, but have been harassed by "Rachel" or "Anne" robocalls from "Card Member Services" offering to "lower my interest rates" as my final offer. But looks like this is a scam of some other proportion. Blocking this number.

I received a text from the same number in response to a Craigslist ad that I posted. Message reads: "Hi about the ring ad, very interesting but will it work with this?" and he attached a photo that I was also unable to view. Thanks for the heads up!

Thats my area code, so how are they using or finding non working US numbers to use?

I called my caller directly after they inquired. ( I always verify incoming text with a direct phone call before giving out information) you can know for sure right away like that.

I know they use to use a global communications company and can send the sms to your phone from their computer, I wonder if they are allowed to make up any random number as a reply number. I may look into this a little more deeply.

Me too.  Same number, sent me a text in response to a Craigslist ad.  NEVER follow a link sent by someone you don't know unless you know how to use an isolated virtual machine.

You can call malware by any name.  You could buy a rootkit and rename it gimp. The likelihood of somebody sending you a link to download the real gimp (you don't need it to view photos) is about one in ten thousand.  Capice?  This is a scammer.  They now are also using a 561 area code.

SCAMMER apparently is in West Palm Beach now.  I got the same message but the phone number is now 561-203-1726.

Got same as everyone else except from 503-342-8159 and with the address to see the pics to my wanted ad i had on craigslist. SCAM. Tried downloading the gimp file which wouldn't work. Hope i don't get a virus!!

Same message here. I was not so nice in my reply. I run a small computer repair shop, and I deal with good people who get "Tricked" by this stuff all the time. Good honest people end up spending a small fortune to get this crap out of their computers.
