Debt Collector
These people have been calling me on my cell, at home, and at work now for over 3 years. Just when I think I've heard the last of them, out of the blue I will get another call. I think they get off on harassing people.  When they call at my job, they ask for my boss and tell me that they will have me fired by the end of the day. When my boss  gets on the phone with them, they become very verbaly abusive, and she tells them they are being recorded on a secure line. They don't care. If we try to hang up on them, they somehow ring every number on our switchboard at the same time. They want me to go  "wire' them money or they are going to have me arrested for fraud. They tell me the sheriff will drag me out in cuffs and the arrest warrant will be " non-bailable" meaning I will not be able to bail out of jail. If I stay on the line, they call me and my coworkers very crude names and use very graphic language. No legitamate bill collector would ever be allowed to speak to people this way. I have spoken to an attorney and he said that you even if you did owe a debt, you cannot be criminally prosecutedt. Debt collection is a civil matter. You cannot track these people down. They bounce their calls from so many numbers no one can ever find them.I would love to part of a class action lawsuit against these scum buckets!

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Will add me to the list!!! They have been calling me for days. Its obvious fraud. Since when does any legal legit law agency or law firm conduct investigations like this!! These people need to be stopped. We should all get together and form a written complaint and send to the FBI, DOJ, BBB and who ever else. I would love for these crooks to be arrested. Just think how many people have been scammed out of money from these idiots.

Same here! The phone number kept calling me over and over until I answered. When I FiNALLY answered, a male with a heavy accent told me about a lawsuit that I had from "US CASH". I have never asked for a loan from that place. They even knew my social security!! Then a lady (also with a heavy accent) came on the line and told me that if I did not appear to court I would be getting arrested. When I asked for further information, all she said was "you're going to get arrested and this is not any of my problem". ALSO when I tried calling back all I got was a voicemail message saying that my account was not authorized to make that phone call. WHAT??? They kept harassing me and saying that I was going to get arrested and that the attorney of the state of Illinois was going to be informed of this and that the police dept where I live was undergoing an investigation and all of this weird mumbo jumbo. I called my local police department and they are investigating. I also called the montgomery police dept and they said that they have been having problems with this number. ALSO, THE NUMBER IS NOT COMING FROM ALABAMA. It is being used somewhere else.

this person called before the holiday (work number) and started telling me he wanted my attorney's name - he had my social security number and kept talking about me being arrested, i said i didn't know what the call was about and i wasn't allowed to receive calls at work. He called back twice after that and left messages on my work phone.
The person called again yesterday left a message (work number) saying he was "officer" ? couldn't understand the name, asking again for me to call back or my attorney and then callled again and when I received the call, again I said i wasn't allowed to receive calls at work.
The personal called today and left another message on my work number. What can be done to stop this since I can't understand the company and he doesn't understand once you tell them you can't receive calls at work they are supposed to STOP?

These people are frauds.

I rec'd a call from them. Like many of the above, they told me that I was going to be arrested for bank fraud, wire fraud, and something else I can't remember. The first person I talked to iAdentified himself as a "law officer". I asked if he was a police officer and he said no, they are very different things. He then transferred me to his "paralegal", who had a very thick middle Eastern accent, and he began hurling threats and insults at me. He told me I would be arrested at home or my job at 11 am the next morning. He said I had accepted fraudulent funds in my bank account. He was able to verify my bank, but when I asked when this deposit took place he said probably a year or two ago. I replied that was impossible since I had only been with this bank for 6 months. He got mad and told me I was losing my mind and that he was going to make my life hell. I asked him what the purpose of this call was. He said he wanted to tell me they were coming to arrest me and not to run. I said police don't usually warn you before the arrest you. He said then that his supervisor wanted to discuss my case with him and he would call me back the same time tomorrow. I asked how he was going to do that if I was going to be arrested in the morning? He hung up.

Unfortunately, he was able to confirm my bank, employer, and address. I think he may have gotten this info from a loan I had applied for online (but went no further), so please be careful. I already had my account number changed just in case.

Follow the steps in what you need to know. A legitimate debt collector agency should not have a problem with giving you a real business name and address you can google and verify via google street view, BBB etc.

I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. Got a voice mail at work from a man with an very thick accent, claimed his name was Johnathon Davis.  Demanded i call him back immediately as there was an important legal matter tied to my name.  Which seems hard to swallow, if it was tied to my social maybe, but just to my name? I have a very common first and last name, it would be amazing to pinpoint my location using just that (haha)

I also received a call from this number on my cell phone at 7:45 pm 1.7.14. I did not understand the name of the firm he was calling from, when I pressed him he transferred me to a paralegal.  This person said I was being sued for not paying back a payday loan from US Cash (which I never took out). He said the money was deposited on 12.3 or 12.13 2013.  Verified my deposits and guess what, I had not received this amount from this company.  The $679.00 is exactly the amount another company and fraud number tried last week.

I received a call from this number today as well.  I have received numerous calls from places like this so I know what to say and that really pissed this guy off.  I told him to fax me a verification of debt and he said he would give it to the officer that will be at my house tomorrow.  He then said he was only calling for my attorney information and I told him I'd be more then happy to give him that information after he told me who the supposed debt was with...he then said he did not have to give me any information and that the police will take care of it tomorrow.  I told him I previously contacted my courts and they have nothing showing against me, he said "oh really, we'll see".  I'm going to call them back and ask for an address because my attorney told me to get one so he could send them an Attorney of Record letter and see what they say.  This man doesn't like to talk to people that know what they are talking about.
