03/26/2010 - received a call from this # at 9:45am on my cell, I answered it and there was no reply or response- I put it on speaker and waited for 55 seconds, still nothing on the other end so I hung up.

I received this call tonight and it called my home phone and my cell at the exact same time, and when I answered my home phone the person said I'm sorry I have the wrong number, the cell went staright to voicemail, but it showed up private on both phones. 1-366-217-0876

I have started to get these calls 3-4 times a week, and I didn't answer because I didn't recognize it.  Tried to call back, got a message that the call did not go through. Called reverse look-up, and all they could tell me is that is it a North Carolina number.  I got 336-217-0877. I get the impression that it is not a person, but a machine.

Started getting calls from 336-217-0875. Blocked it. Now 336-217-0876 is calling. Blocking that too. Maybe taking a survey instead of getting HUNG UP ON might be appealing. It's not a person on the other end making these phone calls. It's a program designed to dial targeted phone numbers from randomly generated CID (easy to fake) numbers which determines - on your answer - when you are home. That's harrassment, not a survey.

They're obviously not legitimate, do not give them any info. "Tiredofwhiners", above, is probably one of them. The 713 number above is an unusual number for this group. Perhaps a lead for any law enforcement that should be looking into this.

Next time the folks associated with this number call my house at 3:00 a.m., I will forward it on to you, Tiredofwhiners.  You must have a boring life to have so much free time to deal with these kinds of calls.

I keep receiving calls from them on my cell phone. I dont put that number out there anywhere for these kinds of reasons. How they got my cell number gets me. They call and ask me about my household appliances. I have not bought anything new in a few years now. I told them that if they call me one more time I am going to press harrassment charges on them.  This is so annoying!!

I got a call today on this number showed as southnet and disconnected... was on my caller id.. interesting.. something is fishy

SouthNet, which is located in Hamilton, AL, is a small Internet Service Provider with a total of six (6) employees. I know everyone that works for this company and I myself am also an employee of SouthNet. SouthNet is a local
company doing business in Marion, Winston, and Walker Counties. We are not licenced to work outside of this area. WE ARE NOT TELEMARKETS! We are not making these calls! In fact, if you were to actually receive a call from SouthNet (and you never will), your caller ID would NOT say SouthNet. I will not disclose what our Caller ID is, but I assure you, it is NOT SouthNet. The numbers 336-217-0882, 336-217-0875 or any other number with a (336) area code is not SouthNet numbers. If you receive a phone call and your caller ID says SouthNet, then you are a victim of "Caller ID Spoofing". The call back number is most likely spoofed as well. We, the employees of SouthNet, are also
victims of this Spoofing. We have received phone calls from all over the United States from the nice to the really nasty.
Once again, SouthNet Internet Service Provider is not the origin of these calls.
So please, in the future all compliants concerning received calls with the Caller ID 'SouthNet', should be directed to the phone company with which you have your service.

They have called me a few times. When I returned the call, a message says "the line has been disconnected or is no longer in service". Something is definitely fishy about these folks. I'm gonna answer next time and tear them a new a--hole! But I have a feeling it will just be a disconnect anyway.  Anybody know whats going on?

Received a call from "Southnet" 336-217-0876 today as well.  Called it back and got this line is disconnected or no longer active recording.  I'm going to put them on my call block feature.

Get calls from this number 3-4 times a week, caller ID shows Southnet. Also showed Voice Exchange 713-226-2555. Called back, Southnet was a disconnected number, Voice Exchange was GSA or CSA something, voicemail box was full, sounds fishy to me

I just got this call, ON MY CELL PHONE, and when I called back, it went to a "sure-tel voicemail system" of some guy named Matt at extension 330". Didn't say a company name or anything. so I hung up. I don't know anyone in North Carolina, why would they call my cell #? Uggh! Going on my auto-reject list!

To Bob b.: SouthNet has not only connected our telephone service provider, we have taken this issue up with our local District Attorney. Several months ago, we had two FBI agents come to see us over a totally different matter concerning one of the web sites we were hosting for the City of Hamilton, AL that was hacked through web calendar the webmaster was using (No fault of SouthNet's I might add). While the two agents were here, we filled them in on all the details to the best of our knowledge. What else is there we could be doing? SouthNet is a small local company, meaning very local, as in 75 miles radius of Hamilton, AL. There is no product nor service we offer that is available to anyone outside this area. Word of mouth is our best advertising and these harrassing phone calls have not hit our area as of yet. Besides that, all the locals know us and if they want to connect us, our number is not only on our web site, we are listed in the whitepages as well. And I don't read these very often, I has been a year almost to the date I posted my last post. But here is something I just found today posted on another site like this from someone using the name rattlesnake.

Just stumbled on this...don't know if active or not.  Anyway, frantic call from wife late this afternoon.  Her father received call on cell phone, identified as being from my wife...unable to take it then, he checked later and found the call in the log (tagged 2 minute difference - no intervening calls) and it was from 366-217-0877.  He immediately called my wife and I did reverse look-up.  Low and behold, it's Southnet, Greensboro, NC  27409.  I've requested credit report and called Greensboro PD, but can't get any good response until tomorrow.  PD dispatcher hadn't heard of it.  NC AG is a good idea...will pursue tomorrow.  Anyone else got updated information or experiences on Southnet, in particular a call involing YOUR name on the caller ID when their call comes in to someone else?

Recieved several calls from336-217-0881.  no msg left.  i then blocked that # from being able to call me.  2 days later, 336-217-0875 called, same "M-O".  can they be stopped?

I had a missed call from this number.  Tried to call it back and got a "We're sorry. Your call did not go through."  I googled the number and saw this info.  I live in Georgia.  Don't know if any info I have may help stop these jerks.

They have been calling my cell phone. When I've called back, I got the "not in service" message, though it's a recording at their end because my phone says still reads "connected" when I'm hearing this. Today they called and I answered. A woman said,"I'm sorry, I have the wrong #" and hung up.  Something very dishonest going here, I think.

I have recieved three calls in the past three days, each day a different number...have dropped a line with Greensboro Police to see if they know anything about it....I too have tried calling back and get an error message...FYI, if this is not a legit company, contacting the DNC will probably not help you resolve this issue.

For the past two months I have received a call from 336-217-0879 at least twice a day, everyday, even on the weekends.It comes up on my caller ID as private caller. I have answered the phone on several occasions and the person on the other end has never responded. I am so frustated. My number is unlisted.How can we stop this?

Wasn't home when call came in, but Caller ID said it was a personal number. Area code is Winston-Salem,NC.

Phone call from 336 217 0879, did not answer, also had dealings with Directv less than a week before, has to be a connection.
