Just got a call from this number today. 336-714-0301. In my opinion, a telephone company paid for monthly), attorney general (tax payers dollars), and the better business bureau (tax payers dollars)ought to know by now that this has gone too far. What are these three organizations doing????????????? We shouldn't have to be harassed bt scammers and pranksters on a daily, moment -by-moment, year-by-year occurance.

I get calls from this number every day and they hang up when I answer. I tried recalling the number and there is no answer or the number is busy. Please stop calling and remove our number from your data base. Some days the caller will call the same time every day. So aggravating. If this is a telemarketer, please remove our number from your list.

they call my house everyday...I requested they remove my name and number from there call list and then they hung up on me...only to call again.

This "company" or "person" calls almost every day but doesn't leave a message. If I'm here and answer the phone, they won't say anything! When I try to call back, they won't answer or the phone line is "busy".
I'm tired of this harassment!!!!!!!!!

Well...
Their suggestion did not work.
Here is more, from Another email from CenturyLink/Embarq:
"Privacy ID is a great service that provides additional screening to stop the unidentified and unwanted calls from ringing in your home. If the calling party is intercepted by the feature and does not speak out their name or company name, the call never rings in the home! If they do state their name, you will be able to listen to the recording before deciding to take the call.
Selective Call Rejection allows you to block up to 12 specific telephone numbers. Calls from any one of the blocked numbers will be sent to a recording advising them the call can not be completed.
Please note, Selective Call Rejection can not guarantee the blocking of Toll-Free numbers, long distance numbers or cell phone numbers. However, there are two exceptions: 1) If you receive a call from a long distance number, you can add it to your Selective Call List by using the ?add telephone number of last incoming call?. 2) If you receive a call from a blocked number, you can add it to your Selective Call List by using the ?add telephone number of last incoming call?. However when reviewing your list, you will not hear the actual digits of the phone number. Your list will say ?private number?.

Here we go:
from CENTURYLINK/EMBARQ:
Selective Call Rejection
____________________________________________________
How it Helps You
Avoid unwanted calls from specific numbers. When Selective Call
Rejection is on, calls from numbers on this list are redirected to an
announcement that says that the number dialed is not accepting calls at
this time.
How It Works
To program a number:
Listen for a dial tone
Press *60 (dial 1160 on rotary phones)
Press # (dial 12 on rotary phones)
Wait for the tone
Enter the selected phone number
Press # again (wait four seconds on rotary phones)
Hang up
To add the number of the last incoming call to your list:
Listen for the dial tone.
Press *60 (dial 1160 on rotary phones)
Press #01# (dial 1201 on rotary phones)
To activate or deactivate Select Call Rejection:
Listen for the dial tone
Press *60 (dial 1160 on rotary phones)
Listen to the ON/OFF announcement
To turn the feature on or off, press or dial 3
To remove or hear the phone numbers on your list:
Listen for the dial tone
Press *60 (dial 1160 on rotary phones) and listen for instructions
Helpful Hints
Some phone numbers, such as long distance and blocked phone
numbers, may only be added to the list by using the To add the
number of the last incoming call to your list procedure.
Other phone numbers, such as cellular or large businesses, may not
be added to the list.
If one of your Selective Call Rejection numbers is also on another
Selective Call feature list, you must deactivate Selective Call
Rejection before using the other feature.
Hope This Helps!

My mother receives calls from this number all the time.
I emailed Century Link, and they just responded.
They say that cannot do anything, but We Can Block that number,
They suggest: "Selective Call Rejection allows you to block up to 12 specific telephone numbers."
I don't know if she has that feature, what it might cost, (if anything), or how to access it. I'll have to figure it out.
But I put this up for the benefit of anyone who might be interested.
Cheers!

Original call started with charitable solicitation for fire station. Declined request. Have been getting regular calls 3 or 4 times a week.

Same here. My mom gets these calls once a day almost every day. This has been going on for several months. She lives in W-S. She never answers, but I'm assuming the same thing will occur if she did. I tried calling the number back, but -- as others have said before -- it just rang until it hung up. Not sure what the purpose of this is. With all of the reports, it almost sounds like an automated caller, but maybe it's malfunctioning and calling for no reason?

Same deals as the others, sometimes during the day, but it was around 8:00 pm last night. I called the number right back after they hung up on me and it was busy. I gave up but tried again this am and it rang until it cut off. Who is this and what's the point?
| Polly 2011-09-22 23:17:03 Unknown |
WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THESE CALLS AND WHY CAN'T SOMEONE STOP THE ONE DOING THE CALLING?
