336-970-4221  Told us they are Wachovia and an account was past due. I told them i was going to have a private investigator track down their address and i would then come to their place of business for the purpose of if they are legit and received a threat I would expect a phone call from authorities. I then called Wachovia who said everything was up to date and on time. Wachovia said they have reported the number. I still have not recveived a call from authorities of which I hope for which would legitimize the issue. They call repeatedly.  If they get nothing after they have called several times you would think they would stop trying. It sounded every time like a african american 30ish woman.

This number continually is calling my home. They first claimed to be "following up" on a job for someone who used my husband as a reference. The "employer" was named as CCS out of Philadelphia. We do not know this supposed job applicant nor are we familiar with the company. They are now calling and hanging up on our answering machine several times a day. I attempted to call the number back. Lakisha Smith answered claiming to be answering for Wells Fargo/Wachovia.I did not give them any information. I in turn contacted my local bank branch and they told me it is most definitely a scam. BEWARE if you receive calls from this number!!!!!!!

I had this number call me 4 times today.  Before I answered it, fortunately, I googled it.  I found all of these responses.  On the 3rd time, I answered and told them off (LOL), then I called Wachovia and told them about it.  They said they have had several reports and they are investigating it.  So we'll see.  But what is scary is that they are PHISHING for info and can steal your identity or money or both.  I'd like to find out where they are and give them a piece of my mind - or fist!  Dont answer these calls!

They have called me EIGHT TIMES just yesterday (Wednesday) starting at 8:05 AM and going all the way to 8:26 PM.  All were hang-ups.  If it really is Wachovia, why don't they ever leave a message?  And why is the caller ID listed as "Unavailable"?

Even if this is legitimately Wachovia, that constitutes harassment.  And they are responsible for the practices of any collection agency they hire.

Looks like I'm going to have to contact the Comptroller of the Currency... AGAIN.  For the same reason.

Will they never learn?

I keep getting these calls and when I call them I get:  " this is an attempt to collect on a debt"  then the line goes dead. No one comes on.  No way is it a debt collector, I know that one for sure.  Very bothersome!

I was called one time this afternoon from this number. The lady said I was past due, blahblah, which was totally non-sense!!! She seemed want to check the account so she asked about name and phone number. I was only 4 digits away from telling her my SSN when I realized she must be a scam! Whew!!

By reading all the posts here, I feel the lady was trying to solicit either SSN or Credit card numbers for fraudulent purposes. Normally banks won't use a straight number like this one to call customers.
I will check with Wells Fargo/Wachovia so as to shut this lady up.

I answered a call from this number (336-970-4421).  The lady called me at my job and actually asked whether  (my husband's name) worked there.  Obviously, I didn't give her my name but told her that "that person does not work here".  She then asked me a very stupid question which was "Did I just call this number".  Of course YOU just called this number!!!  Idiot!  She then hung up.  Very suspicious!!!  In fact, I just checked my work phone incoming calls log and noticed the number was on my list 2 times today - 8:10 & 8:20 a.m., not including the call that I answered @ 11:54 a.m.

I have never been late on my mortgage payment as I explained to the person who kept harrassing me.  I always before in the grace period which is driving Wachovia crazy.  She said why pay the extra interest, I say that is my business.  I have lost so much respect for Wachovia for having their collection department call their good customers.  Especially in this recession.  It is no wonder that they are in trouble with this kind of management.  I just wish I knew who I could call to have this stopped.  Anyone have any ideas?

I'm sorry, but if it's from Wachovia, Wells Fargo then it's definitely a fraud as the only account I have with Wachovia is a bank account. I don't have a credit card nor do I have a mortgage with this company. They may have your information from phising it off of either the Wachovia server or our personal computers. I would NOT give anyone my account information or make payments. You are being suckered. Again, it HAS to be a scam because I DO NOT have any type of credit with Wachovia or Wells Fargo, just a checking and savings account.

Event Reminder
This is Wachovia Wells Fargo.  They were calling to tell me my loan payment was late.  I did a blog post at http://horizonsmagazine.com/blog/?p=7776 after Googling the phone number and was convined they were phishers.  I was wrong.

They called today on my cell phone number and told me a loan payment was late.  I thought the guy (Tyrone Holmes) was pulling my leg and I gave him a hard time about it.  I came and checked my files and found he was correct.  |Apparently I had paid one loan payment twice and one not at all and I did not know it.

This is simply a new number for Wachovia Wells Fargo.

This is a legitimate number for Wachovia.  I received a call from this number today but did not answer and they did not leave a message.  After I found these complaints and accusations that the number was fraudulent and the calls were not from Wachovia, I called the number back hoping to obtain more information so I could report them.  As it turned out, it definitely WAS Wachovia, which they verified by providing me with ALL of my information about ALL of my accounts, and all I gave them was my name.  My mortgage payment is due on the 18th, but I was told years ago that it wasn't considered late until the 28th, so I have rarely made the payment before the 22nd or 23rd.  This month, because I am disabled and we have had so much snow, I haven't been able to get to the bank to make a deposit, so I haven't yet made the online payment transfer, and that is what the call was about.  Although the person I spoke with was very nice, she did quote my exact account balance to me and urged me to make a payment over the phone, but she was satisfied when I assured her that I would transfer the payment after making a deposit tomorrow.

So, again, this is NOT a fraudulent number and the call was legitimate.  I have never received a call from them in the past but, like someone else said, I think they are probably just gun-shy and have moved up their dates for calling when a payment has not been received by the actual due date.

Get these calls too. They said my acct was past due & wanted me to give them a CC# to put the $$ on to pay the bill. My bill isn't past due until after the 25th....I think Wachovia/Wells fargo  is gun shy & worried to death that people are gonna default on them so they start ..Before It Is Past Due..

Screw 'em!

Yes, It is Wachovia/Wells Bank about a late bill. I have had people call from this number even when the bill was paid. Nobody pays for a phone to be bothered by anyone. Just the other night they called at midnight.
What ever you do don't use this bank!!

First called my home, I screened, they left no msg.  Immediately then call my cell number, I answered, they hung up on me.  I did not call back the number but tried google lookup and got this thread.  Very suspicious and a little uneasy they have both my numbers.  I am FL resident and Wachovia/Wells banking.

Yes this number has been calling several times a day even on Sunday at 8:00am. Every one hour they call. Have anybody confirmed with Wahcovia or Wells frago that this is one of their collection agency which they have hired to work for them?

Received four calls from this number by noon on 02/14/10.  All they said on the answering machine was "Hello, hello" then would hang up.  It was a middle age woman.  No message and nothing else was said.  I called the number back and it said they are Wachovia.  This is the second time I have been harrassed by such scammers claiming to be from Wachovia.  I have accounts there, all up to date, all in good shape.  Wachovia is headquartered in Charlotte, NC so any calls from them originating from another place is suspect.  I would like to know how these scammers keep getting account holder's phone numbers.  That is what needs to be investigated.

They began calling us last week telling us our accounts were past due with Wachovia. They needed me to confirm my account #'s and my husband's SS # - I did not. I called our local Wachovia branch. They assured me that all of our accounts are up to date, and that this number has been flagged as fraudulent. IT IS NOT WACHOVIA OR WELLS FARGO CALLING! Lakisha Smith, Lamar, and Brian have called here so far claiming to be with the bank.....THEY ARE FRAUDS! DO NOT GIVE INFO TO THESE PEOPLE!
