SCAM!!  Scam similar to Tedd's situation.  caller contacted my father, claimed to be "Paul Henry", a Federal Trade Commission employee calling from (202) 370-7637 to advise my dad that he had won $2.1 mil (a 2nd place winner in an American Dreams Corp. sweepstakes)...  Dad hung up and "Paul" called back and left a vm.  I called him back and he said our entry was from when my father tried to sell his timeshare in Hawaii - then proceeded to tell me address and information from that (all public record).  The "winnings" required $925 insurance for FedEx delivery plus...... Caller claimed the FTC had "verified" the ADC sweepstakes.  I told him to take my father's phone# off his call list!!

Event Reminder
Scam similar to SallyMae's situation in that the caller claimed to be "Paul Henry", a Federal Trade Commission employee calling from (202) 580-8159 to advise me of being a 2nd place winner in an American Dreams Corp. sweepstakes. The FTC website lists its main contact number as (202) 326-2222 and its White Pages lists two Henry's at (202) 326.... numbers but neither is Paul Henry. The "$685,000" winnings required $1295 insurance for FedEx delivery of an amount above $100,000, to be transmitted to "Laura Rojas Carmona" in Costa Rica. Caller claimed the FTC had "verified" the ADC sweepstakes and provided an ADC number in Las Vegas, Nevada which I did not bother to check out. Googling "American Dreams Corp." yielded many American Dream... result, mostly real estate from all over the US, but nothing in Las Vegas.

Targeting seniors.  Not same phone number but said we won 2nd place in American Dreams Corporation sweepstakes.   Made it sound like they were from the fraud department of the SSC (Sweepstakes Security Commission in Wash. DC) and that my name was on a list that was hacked and being spread over the Internet to other SCAMMERS.  True.  I have had too many to count SCAMMERS sending me fake checks and had so many phone calls saying I have won so many sweepstakes.......I should be a millionaire by now if they were all true!   The phone numbers were 202-530-8148 and 866-530-4438.   Rachelle McClean was the 'agent'......and our prize is to be delivered Tomorrow!!!   Yeh, right!

Indian woman, very hard to understand, said I won 2.1 million $, they can't Contract me, any other way so that is why they are calling me.   I told her it definitely sounds like a scam, lose my number, don't ever call back and I hung up on her.  She called me right back and said w seemed to get disconnected, I told her no, I hung up on you.  So I took all the information, started googling it and sure enough, it's a scam.  The info I got out of her was, american dreams corp, thru visa, she said they are in ny #347-272-1152, I needed to call an attorney #786-309-9343 and give my claim# (i liked up the number, it's in miami), if it sounds too god to be true, it probably is!!!!

claims I won over 2 mil. for using my visa card. had me call a lawyer in Miami, Fl named Alex King. Alex King is a lawyer in FL, but practices out of Jacksonville. Alex King said the money is in an offshore account in Costa Rica, but in order to get it, I had to pay for insurance to bring the money into the US (due to a law in the Patriot Act). The amount to be paid is $5,000. Supposedly they sent notifications to my old address. My sister reports not receiving anything there that she can remember. The money and power of attorney will revert back to American Dream Corporation unless I act now.
