From Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Same thing happened to me except is was an email. He/she responded to my ad to sell a boat. She indicated she was an oceanographer who was buying a boat for her son who was in Malaysia. The email address used was chleomiller001@gmail.com. As far as I can tell, the only damage is that I posted my name and email address. Can't understand why this person would respond to ads with no desire to buy!!!

I Found out that this number was a scam because of this site. I received a text from 1-347-305-2571 asking me about my boat I posted on kijiji and to email to rosemary00723@gmail.com all the details. The strange part was I had posted and removed the ad 3 weeks ago. And Recently posted one for a boat motor. So asked which one they wanted because I already sold the boat. They went on about wanting both now. What made me question this email was that it seemed I was talking to someone else everytime. The way of writing and communicating was different every email and sometimes I was asked what I had already answered. Also who would wanna buy anything from Edmonton Alberta When they are from New York. What I was selling was fullprice and not a deal in anyway. They insisted on paypal and that they are out of town and someone else was going to be taking care of it. So I googled the number and found 1-347-305-8470 (basicailly the number I got) from your site. All saying the same things about replying to a boat ad and paying via paypal and a 3rd party involved.

She/He is going to insist on Paypal as method of payment. Confirmation E-mail ( From "Service@Paypal" Fraudulent account) instructing you to wire transportation costs to a company. The E-mail also claims this is a New or standard policy to protect both of you; Paypal has stated that they DO NOT affiliate themselves with Western Union. This is a scam and ought to be reported to IC3.gov

This person has texted me regarding an ad I placed for a vehicle. I believe it is a scam. email address is morganashley44@gmail.com. An email was sent back to me saying this person is an oceanographer, and her son is in malaysia. Her son is the one apparantly with the phone.
