i got the same call the caller id said UNKNOWN,  the heavily accented gentleman gave me the phone number to call him back 347 338 2307....... blah....blah......blah....   The point is.... if you gat a call and someone tells you they will sell you a loaf of bread, you buy your bread from the store so,  just hang up.... bad people live all over the world.... with the computer we are now a global society,  if you dont want to receive calls block the number,  if you need help to block the number just call your telephone service provider..   be proactive and tell your friends and family when you receive these kinds of calls...   they will appreciate you caring enough to let them know... Have a better tomorrow.

Received this call from Jack Stewart 30 minutes ago. I got his number (347-338-2307) and called back asking for Jack Stewart. The phone went through several ringing iterations and finally a ring that clearly was out of the country. The heavily accented man said no one by that name worked there. I informed him he was fronting a scam which was illegal and he was being reported. He hung up on me....

Just got the same call. When I called him out on the scam, he said no, we need to get in your computer. I told him he was being reported to the Better Business Bureau and my attorney. I'm curious if the call was even coming from within the United States.

Funny, the 347 area code is in Brooklyn and the company he said he worked for, Global Business Machines is in Bloomington Indiana. Pathetic.

My mother fell for this scam 2 days ago, she paid $300.00 for 1 yr protection/warranty etc. the money isn't the issue right now.
I am more concerned with the fact she allowed remote access for them to come in and browse her files, install key logger back door access, open ports up on her firewall, and god knows what else on her 1 year old Dell laptop. Nothing was wrong with it. All she does is read her aol mail on. Eric went on scaring her about an "Internet War / Global Hack" taking place right now and she needs to be scared VERY SCARED!!! I suggested / implied she needs to IMMEDIATLY change all her passwords, let me have the laptop and reformat it, put a fraud alert on the credit bureaus and file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. All of these things I would do IMMEDIATLY!!! I talked to someone at our IT dept and one of them thinks my mother just got scammed and not to worry about her identity being stolen and to maybe subscribe to Lifelock to monitor her credit for the time being. Am I being paranoid? Has anybody had any similar situation they could share? Thanks

I just listen to his stupid voice in the machine coz I hardly understand of what his saying... This stupid idiots called my home number knowing I'm too smart to fall into their scam... I got a call yesterday July 22, 2013. I didn't catch the callers name but he had a thick foreign accent, sounded like he was Indian. He said I had many viruses on my computer and that it would crash within a few days, he was very persistant for me to log on to my computer to give him remote access, I asked which computer had the problem, he hesitated and said the computer with the Vista operating system, I told him I don't have a computer with Vista, he said...oh, I mean the one with Windows 7. I then asked him what was the IP address of the computer having the problem, he couldn't tell me. He gave me many price options, his final offer was $500 for 4 computers since I have 4 computers, he said he promised he would provide me the best service and he would call every month to check on my computer. A total scan, I could go on and on. I must have talked/played around with him for 20 minutes. Talk about high presure sales tactics and he started arguing with me and why would I not want his services. He was actually begging me to work on my computer, never have had a sales guy do that.  I told him to take me off their no call list and that I was hanging up...his final remark was...You made my day bad, can you believe that?

Alan called us at 20:08 EDT 7/20/13. We did not buy his services and he did gain control of our computer. Alan was with GBM Tech support "an authorized Microsoft Tech support business". His contact number is 347.388.2307 in Bloomington Indiana. We did not buy his service for $299.99. We are buying a new computer!
Alan had background noise in his "office".  It sounded like other techs were making out bound call. This is a scam! The new york phone number is 212.212.2212 and there are complaints registered about this number. It has been a sad day for me though a legitimate business is getting my money for a new computer.

This is the 2nd phone call I received from a person claiming that I had to turn on my computer and type a command cvwr - or something similar.
I told him (Man with a foreign accent - both times) that he should just email me, not call me.
He said I will be infecting all of the computers on my network if I did not let him "help me".
He said there are several viruses coming from my Microsoft computer but he could not tell me which ones unless we followed his instructions.

The call came in from 212- 212-2122  That looks like a NYC area code.
When  I asked him about this he said - "no, we are calling from Bloomington, Indiana,"  1-347-338-2307.

Without commenting one way or another on this particular situation, in the past some of these crooks have used the name of legitimate companies, or names which were similar to a legitimate company, potentially doing harm to these businesses as well.  Nothing like creating two innocent victims with one scam phone call.

In any case, the company you listed may (or may not) be a real but innocent third party.  I just thought it was worth pointing out.

I'm glad you didn't fall for the scam, but I am amazed the scammers didn't offer you the Western Union or Green Dot Card payment options.  These monetary conduits are the stock and trade of many scammers, so these creeps are really out of sync with their "industry".

500 dollars to fix a "problem" with your computer? Either you are trying to say this company is legit or you got had big time. 500 is a new computer and there is no way in the world I would pay that kind of dough for a computer problem.

Anyone who calls you up claiming they have been receiving error message from your computer and that it is infected with viruses is a LIAR and a SCAMMER.  There is nothing in Windows that sends out those types of messages and therefore no way for anyone to be receiving those messages and identify that it is your computer that has a problem.  Ignore all the illiterate shills posting here.  They must be getting desperate because too few people all falling for their scam.

You "feel that its not a scam"?  It IS  a scam - Microsoft does not call people unless that person has submitted an online or phone help ticket.  Microsoft also does not contract their work out to other companies.  Nice try, shill, but no cigar.
