Thers is one of the scammers now
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fo ... 9b-aec78b93f287
BEWARE - Users have been reporting they have received phone calls, some claiming to be from "Microsoft", telling them that that their computers are infected. The caller asks the User if they are online and if their computers are performing slowly.
If their computers are not running, they will ask the User to boot the system and report on the start up time or, if the system is running and online, they will tell the User that a tech can take over control of it and clean a "virus infection".
This is a scam !!!
If you happen to receive one of these phone calls ask the caller for the name of the company, where they are located, and their phone number.
Then hang up and report this to:
IC3 (internet crime)
The Local FBI Office ( if you're in the US)
Microsoft will never , repeat, NEVER , cold call people who use Windows. NEVER !!!
Do not fall for this latest scam.
NEVER allow strangers to take over your computer. NEVER !!!

Same complaints as above today 6/27/12. I'm afraid I allowed him to my computer.
Tara 2012-06-22 19:32:04 Unknown
I wiped three hard drives, threw one out, erased my phone, dismembered my iPod, and tossed four memory cards without checking them. I'm fine with it though.
I don't plan on pressing any kind of charges, please, just get out of me. That's all I want.
Tara 2012-06-22 19:14:43 Unknown
If I change my number and switch my plan will you go away?
Lisa 2012-06-22 19:08:00 Unknown
My mother just got scammed by these criminals! She allowed them remote access to her PC. Will a system restore undo anything they have already done? Or...should we conduct a complete recovery? Please help!

A man with an Indian Accent, giving his name as Eric called today 06/19/12 at 15.00 hours, identified himself as a Microsoft Tech, gave a spiel that this was a courtesy call my as computer was at this present time downloading heavy virus and yours truly needed to let him into my computer to stop the action. His number was taken 347-389-0027, and he was told he would be called back shortly. A check of my computer found it to be in perfect working order, no problems, a check of the telephone number revealed all these complaints, and a microsoft statement it was a scam. As this man seems to be a repeat offender, what if anything shouild be done about him, an irritation in the rectum.

A man with an indian accent' called who said he was from Microsoft tech support. He acted very concerned & wanted me to hurry to my computer. It was sending out bad messages like someone was trying to hack into it. I asked him for his name & number. Dawn @ 347-389-0027. After I told him my computer was on he wanted me to go to the keyboard & puch the windows key with a r at the same time. Then type in www.ammyy.com. I told him I was computer stupid @ I would have to have my husband call him back. He wanted to know when I would call him back. he sounded concerned that I do it right away. My daughter told me to call Microsoft @ 1-800-642-7676, which I did. They confirmed that it was a scam & that I passed the test for scams. Microsoft does not make tech calls. They have no way of knowing what our computer is doing unless we call them. They gave me a number to call to report the "scam".1-888-382-1222. Microsoft indicated that the website he wanted me to go to allows downloads of software for remote access to computers. Remember to never velieve the tech guy that calls you & tells you your computer is sending out help messages.

An Indian man called from a private number first then called back again from 347 389 0027. Same story as the others above. I hung up thinking scam!!

Have received two calls from "Microsoft" hjelp desk. One from Sweden a few days back. Today he was calling from NY. He claimed our computer was downloading malware
and wanted to hjelp. Wanted access to my computer. I asked for some kind of verification. He referer to Microsoft.com HomePage and hung up.

Name changed to George Watson and now posing as Voxbone and Microsoft.
Lizzie 2012-05-01 22:57:57 Unknown
I could barely understand his accent and he gave me this number to call back. He said my computer was giving them error messages and he wanted to help. I told him I use a Mac, not Windows. He persisted so I got his number and hung up.
Then I called 877 316 0737 for Microsoft Windows help and she verified it's a scam.

This is obviously a fraud call. These people are posing as Microsoft agents;but you can hear all the foreign language talk in the background. The background noise is very loud.
