Recieved a call from a Deputy Tom O'brain (asian accent) stating was with the County Sherriff's Department - Warrant Division.  He Continued with telling me they received a warrant for my arrest and wanted to know if I wanted to call the people it came from to clear things up or if he should she the deputys out to arrest me. I asked him on what charges it was for and he said criminal charges when I asked him on what grounds he wouldnt answer and just talked over me with the phone # to Mr. Samuel Baxter with the BCI 347-531-2862 x2060. When I called this # it was very hard to hear the person on the other side so I asked for ext 2060 and they asked what my name was. I hung up because I had already researched the #. They called back on my work # and I told them I knew it was a scam and had contacted authorities.

I HAVE BEEN HARASSED BY THIS COMPANY AND MY JOB SITE AS WELL. I HAVE TOLD THEM VERBALLY DO NOT CALL MY JOB! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!! DON'T KNOW COMPANY NAME HE WOULD NOT SAY BUT THIS IS THE PHONE NUMBER

Sheriff is a local officer - NOT federal.  LA County is not federal either.  You were contacted by a scammer.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

Called saying sherriff signing a warrant for federal charges. Said from la county threatened me.

They are NOT the sheriff's office.  This is a scam  originating in India to extort money from you.  No one will how up and you will NOT be arrested.  (A bad check, etc. is a civil matter, not a criminal one even if you did owe someone money.)  If they call again, don't waste your time by answering.

I got a call today they said it was about a payday loan advance but I never took one out. also he said that his name was Greg Rogers, and I Michael black called me from this number. for the time being I am making a police report because they threatened me and told me that they were the Sheriff's  office they were lying they sounded like they had Indian accents.

This numbed has been calling me and my job harrassing me about a payday loan not to mention i only use prepaid card my question is how do they know my information
