Update to my previous post. I called the number from my work phone and they answered as a law firm. Ask for the name of the company and ask to spell it Devip. I followed the instructions I received in how to stop the calls at work and I identified that this Is a government agency and he act as if didn't comprehend what I was saying so I said this isxa Federal agency and you are forbidden to call me at rhis number and I ask for a manger and he said hold please, really a manager in a law firm, anyways there was what sounded like paper shuffling around and then I received the dial tone. Hope it works. Now on to this David White to stop calling my cell. Oh when I returned the call he never ask my name nor gave his but he needed to check his list.  Same guy same accent. Never got to ask him why was he calling me darn it.

David White continues to call my cell and my government work phone saying that I need to call him back or my attorney, very thick accent so it is very hard to understand what he is saying. No reference to what the call is about other than Do not disregard this message and if I don't call him back he wish me luck as the situation unfolds on me. He calls all the time and he seems to be very irritated that I have not returned his call. Don't have a clue what call could be about and since I don't owe anyone I ignore this call and blocked it from my cell. Will have to report to someone to get the person to stop calling Government work phone. Can be annoying at work. I don't call the number back because I don't want to give the impression that I am interested in what they have to or sell.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.
