Also, they are two rude Indian guys that do with thick accents who not answer your questions and
just hang up after their threats.  The IRS would write many letters and not call.  I asked why no notice was given or a chance to pay before arrest, they said just wait for the cops. A***oles!

The only thing I could understand was I R S.  Thanks to the other posts I read I'm sure I got a simular scam call. Foreigners filtering calls from who knows where so they can't be traced.  What scares me is all of our info for equifax credit reporting agency seems to be going through india and so are our hospital records.  If i call about my credit card info an indian answers. If i need a question answered about my dell computor i cant understand the techs acceint. One guy told me his wife said india proof reads all of their mortgage documents from her company.   Dear God. Save us from sending our outsourced jobs overseas.

Got a VM a few days ago. Thick 100% Indian accent. VM left for a wrong name, for someone who owned my phone number years ago. They must be using obsolete White Pages or something. I am so glad that I NEVER gave this number to anyone (I forward calls there from Google Voice).

People, don't get yourself trapped so easily! Phone call means NOTHING nowadays. These scumbags can be anywhere in the world, now with Skype or Google Voice one can get an US number so easy. And with the abundance of public information sources, leaks and illegal info trading the fact they know your name or even SSN means NOTHING.

Change your phone number once in a while. Get yourself a caller ID blocker box (about $100 on eBay), set up whitelist call screening and let all that be history.

Good luck.

Good for you! Now do go over and ruin his weekend by filing complaints!  He's breaking a lot of laws! And pretending to be a federal official is probably no different then saying they are law enforcement.

Please do file reports with the FBI, your state attorney general and Department Of Justice,FTC & FCC..

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Caller was foreign and hard to understand...it took 4 tries to understand he was saying my name and telling me he worked for the IRS investigative department.  He wanted me to call Officer Damon Marshall at this number and talk to him about my owing the IRS.  I called him on it and gave several reasons why I didn't believe him and he began to laugh as I heard other voices in the background.  This is definitely a scam and although he never asked me for money, I'm sure his cohort, Damon, would have.  I told him to take my name and number off his scam list, I wasn't taking any more calls from him or anyone else with the "IRS Investigative Department" (which doesn't exist).

Prank Call
Received a phone message from a caller who didn't speak good English stating that he was from the IRS and that I owed money and said that I should not delete the message and should call him back as soon as possible.  Said to call him back at the number and ask for Lynn Johnson.  I never called back.  I know for a fact that the IRS sends you out correspondence.

They called and left a message that I could barely understand. He said that he was from IRS and I owed money. I don't, so obviously a scam. And if this guy ever googles his own number- One day there will be a time that you are going to need something that money can't buy, and you will go unanswered. Money means nothing, one day you will find that out.

How great I got a call from a Damon Marshall at work this morning, claiming to be with the IRS special investigation, and fell for it.

Since I do owe the IRS then his constant badgering and threats of arrest, seizure of property and freezing assets over rode my common sense of what is the correct procedure for the IRS and the fact I am in a Bankruptcy case.

Stinking POS got me for $1,000, been to the Police dept. to report it, reported it to my lawyer handling my bankruptcy, don't expect I will see my money ever again. Currently on hold with the IRS to report this to them

I am so furious with myself.

Pay attention and learn from me if nothing else.

I received a call on August 28th from a ?so called? Agent of IRS Enforcement Division.  They indicated that I owed over $4K in back taxes and I must pay it now.  They also indicated that a warning letter was sent a week ago that I needed to respond to within 7 days.  It goes without saying that I NEVER received a letter.  That was the first ch*nk in his armor.  The IRS always, always gives you a minimum of 30 days to respond to their inquiry.  That SOB further told me a warrant was issued for me and that all my bank accounts and salary will be levied.  A black marked will be placed on my credit report, etc.  Again, the IRS does not do this without proper notification.  They have to follow their own regulations and would NOT just levy your accounts without having a discussion with you, the tax payer.  Finally, he told me that he is going to execute the warrant and that an officer will be out to pick me up.  Folks, this is a SCAM of epic proportion, please contact the IRS directly when in doubt.  The IRS can be tough but they are not unethical and must follow their own regulation as it relates to collecting back taxes.
