Thanks for your advise.I'm learning more all the time.I stumbled on 800 notes by looking up ' Internet scams ', 'telephone scams, etc. It's an excellent place to find out if other's have gotten calls from same caller ID's, and what the call is all about ! 90% of the time it confirms, its a scammer/telemarketer/etc.,( as I used to try and call them back and cuss em out, now I know better ! ) Thanks again!!!!

A lot of people tend to "google" numbers and wind up on one of the pages for the number they are looking up.  Please feel free to enter this site at its home page, http://www.800notes.com and familiarize yourself with the services available here.  You can find the most recently reported numbers and how many reports have been made about them on the front page, search for numbers directly from the front page (and other pages) and see and click on links to other news and forums on the right side column.  Also, you can see where an area code is assigned at the upper right of each column of reports in a number thread.  And don't forget that the numbers in rectangles at the bottom of a thread link to other pages of posts in a thread.

Have fun, but remember, we're not Google, nor are we the government or a phone company.  We just share information when we can, although there are a lot of people here who can offer good advice.  Just watch out for shills!

Maybe there's good news ! Anyone see,or hear about the Medical Device/ Supplies scam operation that the Feds and state of Florida shut down ? I read it in our 'Gannett' published local paper. It appeared on 1-14-14, by the Associated Press, by Matthew Perrone. Defendants named are Michael Hilgar, Gary Martin, and Joseph Settecase. Nice to see there are people out there doing what they can about these scammer scum-bags. They are very difficult to catch,and shut down. Kudos FTC and Florida!!! But...(yes there's a but ) Where there are 3 cockroaches, there are a bunch more that will appear,with brand new scams!!

Got recorded call from 'John' in the shipping dept.,ready to ship my medical stuff!!!They don't seem to be to short of numbers they use to call us with, which makes me think the ones making all the money from all this is the telecommunication and telephone service providers???!!!

I got a call from the same kind of company.   I think I recognized the guy's voice as the same one used by Jamaican lottery scammers.  He was trying to suppress his voice somehow, but I recognized it as a Jamaican voice.  I'm sure it's another scam directed against the elderly.  And yeah, he was trying  to get an address to send a lot of "free" junk.

My experience was a bit different. I have gotten medical alert calls (annoying) from time to time. I usually try never to answer unrecognized callers, however, I made the mistake and answered this one. It was around 9pm. At first the caller said nothing, then after I said hello a few times, I got deep heavy breathing from this weirdo. You know the kind I mean!!!!! My advice is to just never answer a number or a caller you do not know. If there is never an answer from anyone, they will have to stop paying for marketing techniques that don't result in any business (although I'm not quite sure WHAT business this caller was into)

Got a call from this outfit this morning, and not recognizing the number, I did not answer.  Googled and found this website, and after reading all the remarks, I can say we get calls from Medical Alert scammers all the time as well.  It is very annoying because our phone has been on the Do Not Call list for several years and still they call!  I do not answer calls when I do not recognize the number or name on my Caller ID.

Another recorded message from the same company.  Said a friend or family member had arranged for me to get a medical alert device at no cost to me.  Total scam.  I reported it to the DO NOT CALL page.  This number is different from the one they called me on yesterday.

Where's the NSA when we need them?  Call the Whitehouse and complain that the NSA should deal with this...  (202) 456-1111.

I also got a call from 347-753-9059 AND I DIDN'T ANSWER THE CALL, IT WENT TO MAY ANSWERING MACHINE AND THEY SOON HUNG UP.  AFTER READING ALL THE POST I'M GLAD I DIDN'T ANSWER.  THEY ARE VERY ANNOYING AND HAVE CALLED USING MANY DIFFERENT NUMBERS.  JUST SCAMMERS TRY TO GET YOUR INFORMATION AND HOUSE NUMBER.

I too was called saying this medical Alert had been paid for and I clicked on one to take it off my line.  Won't answer this again after reading all of this stuff from everyone.   I have been scammed once and that was enough.  I'm so tired of them.  I also got a "secretarial" scam that I could make money calling......no thanks, I'm on the other side of the fence...leave me alone.

He wont stop talking and says "Can we verify the shipping address for your prepaid medic alert unit?" and goes on and on no matter how loud or what you yell at him!

got two calls 5 minutes apart.  Didn't answer either time.  Living in a retirement community, we get a lot of these.  If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer!!

Someone on a recording wants to give away something but when I press the number to tell them I don't want anything all I get is a busy signal. How do I stop this?
