I got a call today from that same Indian guy. He said all the softwares of windows computers are now taken care of by his company. I obviously know he's a scammer since this happened to my friend before, I asked for his name he said "Albert" from some strange company (couldn't understand his accent) from Brooklyn, New York. He gave me the number 347-480-2300 without me even asking for it either.  He told me to turn on my computer, I waited 5 minutes doing nothing, he says "oh yes I think your computer is on now" and I said back "uhm.. Nope it's not on actually" Hah. He continues going on and I said I'm on the other line with my service provider and that I didn't need him for his "help" but he tries keeping me on the phone still so I hung up. These people are pieces of low-life sh*ts don't fall for it!!

Looks like this scam is going around again.  My husband, not at all technical,  answered the phone while I was out and "Steven" scared the you-know-what out of him, uttering the same dire threats.  The caller ID on our phone is identified as "Fraudster" at (253)802-0308.  With the same accent as noted on previous posts - he made it sound like the computer was about to blow up but he would fix it right away.
Fortunately, my husband refused to turn on the computer, saying that his more tech-savvy wife would be home shortly and would be the better person for Steven to speak to.  With that, Steven gave hubby the (347)809-6760 number.I tried it when I got home and it does not go through - just get the "We're sorry, your call cannot be completed as dialed" message.

Kuddos to my husband for dodging that scam!!!!

Yes we got the scam call as well on 1/21/13.  Man with accent - maybe middle eastern, Pakistani, etc.  Said my PC had a virus and it was urgent, I must go to my computer now and do what he says.  He said his phone number was 1-347-809-6760.  He said he was in the United Kingdom.  Said he was calling from Microsoft.

WATCH OUT, this is a SCAM.

HAha, I asked them what their Microsoft Support ID # was, and their phone. I reversed the phone number found scam issues on google then told them this: They are commiting a federal offense by impersonating a corporation through telecommunications. The line is tapped through FCC and they will be working with FBI. I advised them to cease all activity and seek immediate legal counsel that they will soon be contacted. The dot head sounded like he was pissing his pants, scrambling for words and hung up. LMFAO

notMichael,  you are absolutely correct as I see it.   I think the good news is that there are enough of those, like yourself,  who keep a watchful eye open for those types who try to Boost the scam or Shill the board,  and the message still gets across to those who come here for advice.  I feel certain that the people see right thru  their shill posts by reading all of the others.
Thank you for your post and keep at it........its helping others who may not know as well.

Received call from a person with a heavy accent, telling me that he was Windows Tech Support, and that software on my computer no longer had a license, and would soon crash.  Asked for my "name, rank, and serial number."  I refused, and he gave me the number 347-809-6760 to call back and ask for Kevin Martin.  He was a telemarketer of the worst sort, offering to repair the software if I went online and give him access to the computer.  His call was blatently false.  That call was made about 8:55 EST time on 12-18-2012.

Just got a call very similar to yours, from Windows Service Center Teck department. His name was Jack, an Indian accent guy. He gave me the same callback number 1-347-809-6760, saying it was a toll free number (!!) and that they were located in Canada, in Oakland. Wow! The area code is from New York and for sure it's not a toll free. But the guy had my name and complete address. It is weird because my computer goes wrong, but it's not a PC, it's a MAC!

Prank Call
I also received a call from these scammers twice! The first time my sister answered it. It was an indian sounding guy who claimed my microsoft computer was infected and needed immediate action for them to fix it. I thought this sounded strange and since we received a previous call from them which they claimed Microsoft contracted out to hawk security, and we called Microsoft to which they told us it was a scam, we knew not to give him any information. My sister got on the phone and said "seriously your a f*ing scammer! How would you feel I someone called your old grandmother or your family and tried to rip them off money?!?"
Apparently the guy wasn't happy because next thing you know after a short silence he responded by yelling "you dumb b*tch! Your a stupid f*ker!f* you!!" and proceeded to hang up. Lol obviously he realized he was doing something wrong if he feels he has nothing but swears to defend himself.

Shill,  Kenneth Johnson is one of the scammers.

If you do like the caller asks they will download malware that lets them control it even after you log off.  They will use it to send spam and spread viruses.

This site (800 Notes) is a victim of its own success.  People read here, then avoid being scammed.  The scammers now know that and post here, trying to undo our good work.

Received call from 347-809-6760 stating they're "windows technical support" and my system has a problem they would help me with??? Had them give a number so I could call them back to confirm who they might actually be. When I connected, the initial response bothered me because someone didn't know Raymond. This is the name given to ask for??? It's as if briefly the name given was forgotten. I hung up not continuing with this matter. I got to this fact informatiomn about what these people have been trying to do with many others by asking about 347-8098-6760 and so I'm giving my comment. Beware!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I like to have swallowed the bait on that phishing expedition as my personal on-line bank account had just been hacked a few weeks before...good timing. But I screwed myself in the foot again. I Googled MicroSoft as that is who they said they were with even though the number came up as "unknown name, unknown number, the one's who originally called and said I was being hacked at this moment. I was told to call the stupidviser back at 347-809-6760. I said if this is MicroSoft, you should have a toll free number. To which the reply was: oh, it is you won't be charged if you dial it. To which I though BS unless you are from AT&T who is my carrier, it ain't.  Back to what I done after Googling MS...got a number, called it and asked if this was MS and got lied to for the second time by the Hindus...This time from the Iyogi variety...that must be how these "dus" get to heaven...when God asks, how many people have you lied to in your life....kinda like the f'ing Muslims with the 77 virgins BS...and the Beekeeper suits, no drinking and praying 7 times a day krap...anywho, as it turned out they were from Iyogi which they said is sanctioned by MS to do their tech work...BS #3 But being that I was getting hacked from all directions anyway, I signed up for the $300 special of 3 computer checks any time for a year...and I could see that all they done was 1st run Clean-up Wizard, then they ran File Hippo File Sweeper, then run a final Iyogi automated PC clean-up. Most likely all 3 are free programs. All that I can say is this, if the MF's don't have a redneck accent, it's gonna be good-f'ing bye, from now on. I am no longer giving a f'ing nickle to "feed the children" or any overseas program to feed the kids of these b*****ds as if you feed them, they grow up and try to jack you out of your money. Let'em starve. After this, and being hacked in my bank account and several other attempts by these f'ing towel and rag heads, I will be giving my donations to the Ku Klux Klan from now on.

I got this call and said my Windows was giving errors and stuff like that. I'm not an idiot and I know they were fake. I'm very computer savvy so I went a long with it for kicks. I lied and said I don't even have a computer, so that's impossible. Yeah that stumped them good. Then next call I got I said, I don't use Windows, I use Mac. Stumped them again. Third time I said what's your number, I will call you back. Got some BS 1-800 number. I looked it up and it's from some crappy company that's not even computer related. Hilarious.

Prank Call
Got the same call just now from "William" working at "Windows Expert" on behalf of Microsoft telling me that my computer sent Microsoft a message containing some codes indicating that my windows has been compromised. I asked him what his number was so I can check into a few things then call him back. At first he said that his number was 1-800-1111-00 . I said that this number must be incorrect, and he gave me the same bogus number 2 more times, he said there is now a new number format that I am not aware of! LOL! I asked if he had a local number, and he gave me 347-809-6760. After this I could not hold back the laughter any more, and told him that the "Social Engineering" hack takes more brains that he has, then hung up.
