Caller was not clear, noting that someone gave my name and cell phone number as a referrence. Caller (i.e.: James Carter) was not clear and confusing when he asked that I give him my cell number or the number that I was calling from.

I received a call from this number that I didn't answer.  On listening to the message, there was some comment about a legal department.  Because the number was unknown to me, I deleted the message.  On arriving at my office, I found a message from this same fraudster, Shawn or Sean or John. I called the FBI and their position that until I know more they won't do a thing.

Called and threatened me with legal action if I did not have a friend of mine, who I have not seen in years, call them.  Said I was legally responsible.

I called back, Mark Nolan was the name they used this time, and was hung up upon several times.  They refused to give their companies name nor their mailing address.  I was told the only way to avoid thousands of calls from them was to change my phone number.

I called the FTC and filed a complaint.  You all should too.  http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/telemarketing/tel19.shtm

Hi xray_vicki,
I was just wondering because I've just received this phone call today and just felt in my stomach that this was a scam -- is there anything your bank can do to keep them from "hacking" into your account?

Today my parents received an urgent phone call from the "legal dept" stating that I was involved in criminal activity, and a lawsuit would be filed immediately, and that my parents would also be involved since they were listed as referances.  I called the number they left my parents.  The person I talked to claimed to be a lawyer.  I began asking questions about what the phone call was concerning.  They demanded money immediately or a lawsuit would be filed Monday morning.  They would not answer questions re: what company they represented, I was having trouble understanding the person, so another "lawyer" began talking on the phone.  I soon found out that this was a scam because the 2nd person, kept asking me "what my problem was", told me several times to "quit wasting his time", and the best part is he told me 3 times to go   f  myself.  I called my bank and informed them that someone was trying to get my financial records, and they felt that this was a scam.  A few hours later, this same person called my employer with the same story.  The only idea I have is that an internet pay day loan company I used 1 year ago must have sold this information to these scamers.  They knew who I used as references, what bank I used, and my employer information.  BEWARE OF INTERNET PAY DAY LOANS.

Co-workers told me that someone called from the  "legal department" and demanded to speak with me. When I called back, the guy said I had a lawsuit against me and he needed my social security number. A scammer called my work with a different number and numerous identities. I recognized the guy's voice and I know it's him trying to retrieve information once more. He is now using a business phone, so the sheriff's department said that they can't do anything about it. I'm frustrated because I resolved this problem in december and now the guy is calling again with a different number. I'm not sure what to do at this point.
