sending spam text messages. Bogus. What do they get out of doing this?

got a txt from number about laptop it's not real waste of time

This is the building laptop33 is located according to (whois) registration.  E-mail and call them and complain as much as possible maybe they will throw them out of the building.

just tried calling back the number; says voice mailbox is full. go figure.

Now the number is referring to "creditsearchfinder.com."  UGH. Got 3 txts from this site's cronies spamming for them in the last 2 days.  Don't know how to make it stop since they are using different numbers with each text message!  Two from 347 area code, another from 516 area code.  All from NY area codes.

They wont stop texting with loan offers.

I've received a text message on my cell phone from them also.  In my case, they say:  "Need up to $1500 fast?  Visit us now.  www.HELP80.com.  It sounds like a scam to me, and how the hell did they get my cell phone number?

I have received four messages from these hairballs. Each one asking me if I need $5000.00 right away. All I have to do is use the link they send and get the money right away. The messages always come at 2:00a.m. to 3:00 a.m., maybe they think you are sleepy and will absent-mindly do what they say in the message. I always grab my phone because we have kids away in college and there might be an emergency call or something concerning the kids. I haven't been nice to them in the replys, I have just sent "STOP" and waiting to see what happens.

This number keeps calling my wife's cell phone with unwanted soliciations for loan products. Her phone number is on the do not call list.

did anyone recently sign upfor Hilton Honors, or other hotel points program? My spam calls began after i enrolled at Hilton....now I WILL NEVER STAY AT A HILTON PROPERTY AGAIN. THey admitted that they give #'s to "their partners"......total B.S.

I got spamed from another number from the same area code. I txted back STOP, then I got spamed again from this number.

The do not call list is worthless.  It's only for law-abiding businesses.  The pond scum that is spamming your phone doesn't give a rip about any list.  

They sent me a message that said, "Want a laptop?  While supplies last! LAPTOP33.COM.

As with all spam, the spammer is put on my do not purchase list and I will never EVER do business with them.  If only the rest of the world would do the same we would be rid of these vermin.

If only we could charge them for the text.

Received a test from this number on 7/1/2010.  I didn't give out my number.  It stated: "thx 4 visiting our site Call 1 877-704-6317 to claim Your FREE $20  Wal-Mar Card plus $40 Gas Card, Gift Code: RRV200 2end reply stop.  This is the first time I received a text from this number.  I did not call back their 877 number.

I got the same msg about 1 wkly. I'm blocking the no. today.

They are probably spamers sending an email to a list of numbers since your number is usually associated with the text email.  So you can email yourself or others from gmail, yahoo, msn, etc for SMS text messages.

Received a test from this number on 6/19.  I didn't give out my number.  It stated: "thx 4 visiting our site Call 1 877-704-6317 to claim Your FREE $20  Wal-Mar Card plus $40 Gas Card, Gift Code: RRV200 To opt out reply STOP.  I did and so far I haven't received anything else.

Have received three messages, supposedly from Walmart, Target, and then one thanking me for visiting their website. Haven't done any of these, did type stop. Hope it works.

Hmm. Might that be the website or another part of their scam?  Not that I want a laptop, but I'd like to check out their web page and see what it is. I'm too scared!

I have received two of these messages, today I replied STOP to the text.  We'll see if that really works.

How do you block a number?

I keep a text message from this number (up to 3 times a day). They want me to call 1-877-704-6317 to claim my $25.00 gift card from Wal-mart and $50.00 in FREE gas. I never give out my cell phone number out and I don't have text!! STOP TEXTING ME!!!

just got exact same msg - im going to block their number now.

Received text from this phone number saying:

I have never visited any website that has required me to give them my cell phone number, nor permission to text me.

Hi, I just got the same message today from 347-925-5873. I was on the computer but I did not go to a site on my cell other than my bank 30 minutes prior to the message. I know for a fact that my bank is not giving me anything let alone $200 worth, if anything they would be charging me to go there!

It is a short code SMS.  Reply with the word STOP and it will remove your number from the distribution list.

I got the sam thing as Jose, telling me I visited their site.  THIS IS SPAM  Doesn't the no call list take care of texts?  IF not, then how do you block a number from texting, my phone will block numbers that call but not texting.  Any Ideas?
