Earlier on today, I received a call on my DDI line at work. I work in The Peak District in Derbyshire, England, United Kingdom. My phonbe's screen clearly displayed the caller as 00-1-352 653 1224. They rang off as I answered the phone and although I knew this is an American number, I didn't have a clue who it could be until I googled it having gotten home this evening. Does seem really weird than an American debt collection company would want to ring a particular company's extension in England. FWIW all of us here are English and I can't imagine that any of us would owe money to someone / some firm in the USA (or Canada)

These people  (supposedly william johnson and john harris  ( the names change)  called me at work and said i had a case number and that charges were being filed against me for money i had received in my bank account in august

The funny thing is that I did not open the account until august 31.  Then they said "oh,  we made a mistake, and it was in september"

They said I could got to  jail, and that i needed to pay 300 dollars by today or I was going to court.

My bank confirmed that I had received no money in august or september.

I called this number back several times (it is busy quite often) and asked them why they were scamming people.  I told them I was going to the sheriff.  I kept calling them for the rest of the day,  and their names kept changing

I then called several times and said i wanted to order a pizza, and they said I was harassing them


I WAS HARRASING THEM????   ha ha ha h

Has anyone taken action against them- please let me know

Rcvd a msg from my employer's after-hours line from GARY (with a law firm) stating I have committed fraud against the company with a check using my name & ssn.  TOTAL BS and these people KEEP calling my employer and have been told not to call and my employer has had at least a couple numbers blocked but they keep using a different number.

File a complaint with the Florida attorney generals office!!!

These people called me 9 times in the last hr!!  Any law office knows that anything more than 3 phone calls in a day is HARASSMENT and grounds for a law suit!!!

These psychos say their company name is "FBI" and they are a law office.  If they are a law office, then they should know the LEGAL system and not phone harass people.  Anything more than 3 phone calls a day is considered HARASSMENT in the state of AZ and is grounds for a lawsuit against them!!!  These psychos called me 9 times in the last hour!!

I received a call from Richard Johnson as well stating they are the Law Firm handling my fraud case and the Cops are onway to arrest me for check fraud and theft. I was supposed to have received funds from a lending institution and they have been trying to recover payment. I asked for a specific date I received these funds and he said unable to provide. He wanted me to verify my bank info. Once I assured him I have not received funds he wanted me to verify info again. My amount I received went up twice in the conversation. I advised i wanted to dispute this and show I never received these funds. He then advised me to fax him my bank statements and once he cold show no transaction he would hand over the case. I advised I would call him back later this afternoon. I tried calling back and phone is a always busy. This is a huge scam as I reported to the local police they advised another officer was on the other side of town with this same story from these people......

I just received a call from 113526531224 and like another stated, i owe a loan that i never received. They say that i need to prove it in court.  One more thing to send to my lawyer.

I received a call as well from some one name Edgar that I defaulted on a payday loan and that I need to have myself or attorney contact or futher action will take place these people need to be stopped.

This man calls me and asks me if I know (my brother's name). I said excuse me, but I KNOW this is a scam and do not ever call me again. We will see. This is the second time I got this call. He started by saying, "This is a law firm." I said, SO! Then he said, "This is attorney." I said, " What do you want?"  He then asks if I know (my brother's name). I think he thinks I am going to pay cuz he is my brother. Even if my brother does owe him money (which I know he does not) I would not pay him. Do not send this caller any money. It is a scam!

I got a cal from this number stating that there is a law suit fon me ... when i said that i nvr owe anything to an1.. they got frustrated and blamed me that i stole the money..... !! MOTH******ERS

Calls and keeps calling. He needs to stop harassing people on their job calling all the time about some case file number.  It needs to stop.

One stupid Indian calls me eveyday from this number named as some richard .. threatens me that i am goin to be be behind the jail. B***S***.

I am getting calls from the same number, some non-American jack*** that threatens I am going to be arrested.  I told him go ahead and send the cops to get me, he gets really mad when you laugh at him.  Definitely disregard these calls, DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY!!!!

Who are these people?  Was it a Mr. Richard Johnson that called you?  He has my social security number probably from a payday loan that I had and defaulted on due to loosing my job, however, I am in the process of getting a firm to file Chapter 13 for me.

Received a call just now from a Richard Johnson.  States I am going to jail unless I call them back.  He is threatening with having my supervisor involved.  He also has my social security number.  Who are these people

I also recieved a call from this number claiming that I have commited payroll fruad and they want money. This is impossible, I work for my families business. This is some sort of scam.

Calls and states they are from a law firm and I completed money fraud on a payday loan.  Haven't had one but I have gotten calls from other numbers that say the same exact thing.  There is a law suit pending with my social number and requesting my attorneys info but when I offer my attorneys info they don't want it and state that it has already became a legal action (whatever).  These people are just scamming for money.  The amount you owe will change often.  Ask for them to send you something in the mail and you will submit payment upon receipt of their letter.  They don't even follow the guidelines as debt collectors in any way.  I thought this was interesting though I noticed on this call though it actually came through my work line with a country exit code of 011. http://www.howtocallabroad.com/codes.html
You can go to the above link and find the country code and I have heard that some of these guys and girls actually call from Canada and get routed in the US this way.  Which is very possible.  But please save your money and do not pay them anything over the phone before asking for proof through the mail.  They have allegedly been taking me to court now for the past 2 years.  If they were going to take me to court, I would know from my county court house and I would have been to court already.  They will threaten just demand they send you something and you will not talk to them any further unless they send you something.  Good Luck and if you have any questions just click reply.
