Political Call
Same story - guy with an indian accent calls to tell me that the government hs chosen me to recieve a grant, that does not need to be paid back.  This is simply because I pay my bills and never been convicted of a crime.  What rubbish, I am insulted by thier belief in my lack of intelligence!!  Why would a government whom is somenear 17 BILLION in debt give money to people that truly don't NEED it?  Since we all pay our bills, then unlike our wonderful government, chances are that we live within our means.

Same message to me from 360 284-4884.  I am to go to Western Union immediately, but the address they gave me is US bank.  I need to pay $235 to receive the $5125 they "generously" will provide me for paying my taxes, etc., etc.  Original call was from a non-English native - Indian. He called back in 10 minutes to see if I had called "The Grants Dept." When I called, the woman at the above number - also not American, expects me to go to the bank immediately and then call her.  It reeked of a scam from the very beginning.  I'm glad to see this on record as a SCAM.  I will make no further move.  The number comes up as "Private" - which is not possible for a govt. agency.  BEWARE OF THIS SCAM!!!

Same thing Happened to me, (202)621-0363. They wanted my credit card information and said that because I paid my taxes every year and have never been arrested that I would be receiving 7000.00 from the U.S government. Right now we are in debt, so this is a SCAM! do not fall for it. They already had my address on their file, so I just called and cancelled my credit card. I will be receiving a new one later.

Just called me and told me that I qualified for a US grant b/c I have pay my bills on time and have not filed for bankruptcy. First of all, I answered and they asked to speak to the owner of the home. I said that's me... So you mean to tell me I qualified for ~5k but you don't even know my name?? (i live in an apartment - do you mean me or my landlord??) Then they gave me another number to call to retrieve this grant money. I called the other number and asked the rep to tell me under what clause has this act been established b/c I had not heard about it. After being on hold for 5 minutes while she searched for this info I hung up. This is pitiful. Scam artists are getting desperate. The first # called me around 6:04 (it came up as unknown).

Just got a call from a man who did not speak english very well, but I managed to make out that because I was such an upstanding citizen who paid their taxes on time and didn't have a criminal record, the US Grant Department was going to give me $5135.00. Wow the US is getting so generous that they are just giving away free money to Canadians...let me just say awesome! But instead of being able to contact me to their finance department, I had to call back with my "confirmation" number. Seriously...knowing your audience is important people. Total scam!!

I received a call from some Indian dude telling me to call this number to get my $5125.00 grant.  My son had fielded another attempt to contact me with a promise of $7000.00.  My wife had earlier received a call that supposedly would net me $10000.00.  Looks like these scammers an't even get their facts straight.  Maybe we should stop letting Indians into the country if they are coming over here to participate in scamming people?  Immigration was a good thing once upon a time.  It's time to close the borders, folks!  Give all the jobs to Americans!

Got call at 6:05pm 1/4/12 from again...person not speaking English so well saying I did a survey and since I pay my bills and haven't filed for bankruptcy in the last 6 months I was being given a 5000.00 grant from the government...obviously It sounds like a scam so I Google the # and here I am. If they are gonna try and get us then they should authenticate our American government with American people speaking English. rggg..do not call list is failing me here.

The US Grants department does not exist. THIS IS A SCAM. This is a version of the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, grant paperwork, business plan, loan, scammed-money refund, lottery winnings, interest rate reduction, tax reduction, gift card, refund, doggie, cruise, vacation, free gas, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, registration, insurance, secure handling, processing, etc. They may send you a fake check, may want your credit/debit card or bank account number, or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. They can put recurrent difficult-to-cancel monthly charges or a 1-time charge on your card or bank account, and sell account info to other criminals and you'll have to replace accounts altogether. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. If you give them the WU Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) for the wire, they can pick up the money from anywhere in the world. Report to US Postal Service Inspectors https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.
