I'm selling a painting thru craiglist and a person using the email johnelcaj@gmail.com under the name of Patrick Wills wanted to do a PAYPAL transaction. He said he was in a military base, stationed in TEXAS .I did not provide him with my email address or any other personal info. Beware as this seems to be a SCAM ARTIST.

I just got a nearly identical email as well!

Just got almost exact same message for my motorcycle. different phone number though (832)-736-1603 TEXT ONLY. also from email johnelcaj@gmail.com/Mike marchetti. This is second scammer in 24 hrs.

I just got the exact same email (johnelcajc@gmail.com) in response to my Craigslist ad selling my dining room table set.  I also received an email from nelsoncole0020@gmail.com trying the same scam.

I just received this message from the same scamer.

I received an email from the same 'person', saying they wanted to purchase my mattress as a surprise for moving to their new home and that 'he/she' also works in the rig.  Also asked for my Paypal address to make full payment of advertised price... now I am wondering, good thing I checked this site first.  Number listed was (323) 488-5506 and also asked for TEXTS only as he is in the rig... mmmhhh....

I got an email in response to my listing on Craigslist. Received an email with the same story... Clara Jones with Rig Builders International. Wanted my Paypal address, then wanted to communicate by text only. The number was 214 585-5605.

I have a truck listed on craigslist and  this number was given to me as a TEXT ONLY number...funny as it is a landline number in Shelton, Washington. The emails I'd received were from a "Clara Jones" telling me she worked for a OIL RIG company called Rig Builders International in TEXAS...and wanting to know if I would accept PAYPAL payment for the truck. According to the owner he's never heard of her and told me to include his name and email addy in my response to her letting her know I'd checked verification of employment. The emails are coming from a google account johnelcaj@gmail.com. When I emailed "her" about the employment thing and that the area code to the number being Washington state the reply from "her" was that she had transferred out of Rig Builders to a company called Texas Oil Rig Twister...just as if it wasn't clear in my email that the OWNER of Rig Builders who started the company himself yrs ago had NEVER heard of "her". Plus the pressure pushing me to give my PAYPAL email addy so as "she" can go ahead and send payment for the truck. I am in VA and there's no talk of shipping the truck of delivery of the truck...I had made it clear that all that kind of costs and arrangements were not to be handled or pd by me. Funny how I found this website...when I went to search the Texas Oil Rig Twister it was mentioned in a post on this site so I linked to here. Glad that I did...BEWARE....is this the same person scamming under a diff name now that the other name got found out???? And I did block my home number and tried to call this 360-358-3620 but did not leave a voicemail...TEXT ONLY??? yeah right!!!

I received several texts from this number regarding a craigslist posting I made.  This turned out to be someone trying to scam me by saying he put money in my paypal acct. but I would have to pay $500 thru Western Union to a specific shipper then give Paypal the confomation number in order to release the funds into my acct.  BEWARE of this number.
