The similarity is 320- numbers. Not carriers. This happened with Whidbey Island Bank awhile ago to. Since I have a 320 number, I got both scam messages. Don't answer!!!

just got what sounds like the same message being discussed here... text to my Verizon cell. apparent local number to call (which I did not call) and purporting to be Wells Fargo (of whom I am not a customer).

I HATE lazy F*@#ers, get a job, stop trying to steal honest working peoples money. I hope their a$$holes grow shut. I really don't like it when people try to steal my or other peoples info, I know it is hard economic times; but I work a legitimate job, so can they!

we just got the text too...called it back from another phone and it said to enter my 16 digit card number....entered 16 ones and it hung up on me! heehee Not getting any info from me.

Yes, same text from the 541-654-7242 saying my Wells Fargo was DEACTIVATED and to call the 360 number. And Yes, I do have a Verizon phone. I assumed it was a scam as I too don't have a Wells Fargo card.

the only way they knew the first four digits of your card is cuz the numbher is the same for all cards from that area... (i think, or region) usually when the bank notifies you of anything that is legit its the LAST 4 digits...

yep, i got the same cancellation text from someone claiming to be Wells Fargo. I am glad I am not the only one. Who ever it is is fishing for some kind of information. Reverse call number said the call originated from Eugene Oregon.
I did not reply to the Eugene number or the Vancouver Washington number in the text message.

I got the same text. I don't have a card with WF and so I called the number on their website to make sure someone didn't open an account with my info. The woman at WF said that I'm not in their system and that there have been reports about a scam regarding this text.

October 21, 2011 I just received text from 541-654-7244 Told me to call 360-567-5097 . I called the number on the back of my card and Well Fargo said it was a scam. What is bothersome is that the text had the first 4 digits of my account number in it.

I have received 3 texts, allegedly from Wells Fargo, that my card as been DEACTIVATED. I have also received 2 phone calls with the same statement. I don't have a card with Wells Fargo.
