This was an agency calling on behalf of the phone company to verify that we received our phone book. They were polite and the call was not a problem.

It's actually a data base linking/subscription service for Federal branch of government.  It just is to verify you and because it is slightly invasive, they will say its for telephone book, a registry, or a local newspaper.

This is a magazine/newspaper subscription company, trying to get me to renew my local paper subscription.  Asked them not to call back.  Is not collection agency.  After I was done, I hung up w/the telemarketer, and called the number back.  You will not get a live person but you can have your number removed from their call list.  I did this and they state it takes 2 business days to get off their list.

I get calls from this number all the time so today I was mad because its Christmas eve and they hve called me 3 times and its only 2. I called the number back and it was answered electronically and said if you wanted your number removed from thier call list to just enter it. Hopefully they stop calling.

So, which is it--a collection agency or an agency that verifies whatever?

Tired of this number calling me 3 or more times a day.  Telemarketer.

I just got a call  from this number, it rang twice I answered and they hung up.

I get calls from this number repeatedly.  When I answer no one is there.  This is a form of harassment.  I would like to report this.  I get at least 3 calls per day.  How can I stop this?  They have an answering machine when I call back that asks for my telephone nuimber.  Why?  They have it.

Finally answered the call.  Took a bit until somebody responded to my "hello" and it was a company inquiring if my new subscription to the Chicago Sun times had started. That's all they wanted...actually didn't try to sell me anything!

Get calls from this number constantly. They never answer when I pick up. Why is it a verification call? How do I contact the federal office to report this harassment?

Agency that handles collections....one being the Houston Chronicle. Not offensive-just doing their job.
