This number is from a company called APAC. They are contracted by Verizon wireless to handle things from activations, orders, or general questions about your service or phone features. I am an employee of this company.

In response to your note. You COULD have been a LOT nicer as there would be NO WAY for ANYONE to know what YOU know. Many people never HEARD of "call centers." I heard of them, but I would have NO IDEA that this number would bE a call center.

NOW, if we KNEW it was a call center in the FIRST place, we most CERTAINLY WOULD NOT BE SO DUMB AS TO CALL BACK.

When someone hangs up on you when you ask a question, that is suspect. When you get only a busy signal, are you supposed to KNOW that is a call center? Certainly NOT.

If you search simply APAC on the Internet, you will find a listing for APAC CUSTOMER SERVICE INC with a Nasdaq chart below it and showing the stock as being down.

When you do a reverse phone lookup, you get:

This MAY be a legitimate somthing being in the stock market; but I do NOT believe it is legitimate.

I, too, received a call from 361-693-8900. I did a reverse lookup on the phone number and it belongs to APAC Customer Service, 802 N. Carancahua Street, Corpus Christi TX 78478. READ MY RESEARCH BELOW:

DON'T EVER give any personal information over the phone. Tell them you will call them back and get THEIR number. If they hang up, no gain for them.

I ALSO searched for just APAC. APAC Customer Services Inc. showed up under the following:
APAC (APAC CUSTOMER SERVICES INC) - dailyfinance.com with a NASDAQ chart under it and showing the stock at 5.64, DOWN -0.01 (-0.18%) Mar 04 4:00PM EST.  SO, it IS some type of legitimate something.

I received a phone call from this # and the rep asked for my address and said our bill was sent to the wrong address.  We are paperless with Verizon so this made no sense.  I gave him no info.  I also stopped by the Verizon store near my house and was told that I had nothing to worry about.  I'm not so sure about that.

A month after I got my phone, I got a call from 361-693-8900. I didn't answer it because I don't answer if I don't recognize the number. The area code is for Corpus Christi, TX (I don't know anyone there).

Voicemail from Verizon Wireless regarding a request I had recently put in. After reading the other comments here, I did not call back the number provided in the voicemail, but instead the verizon customer service number from their website. Verizon Wireless confirmed that they HAD just left me a voicemail regarding the situation. I have no idea how that would happen unless this # was legit. I agree it is weird, though, that they have denied it being them in the past. I guess I would suggest never giving personal info to an incoming call request, and rather insist on asking how to be redirected to the individual calling through a the standard customer service #. If they can't tell you, its probably not legit.

Got the same thing. As soon as I picked up, the call was hung up. I called back... busy..Verizon said not them. If they call, they will call from 1-800 number.

Someone called me on my husbands cell phone saying he was from verizon looking for me. My husband said it was not my phone so he asked for my number. My husband was suspicious and did not give my number. I've tried to call the number several times and its busy.

A lady called me saying she was from verizon and did I know someone had changed my address could I give her my real address when I ask to speak to customer service she hung up when I called the 361-693-8900 back its always busy.

Got a call back supposedly from a Verizon customer relations manager about a complain on my Verizon bill. The person, Rose, talked in a harassing way and did not sound like a Verizon customer relations manager. Was not familiar with previous info on a second line I had. I hung up. This has to be Verizon.. I was just on the phone with their customer service and they said they called to check something with my phone.  It is Verizon.

Recieved a call from 361-693-8900 on 1-11-09 @ 8:33pm . . . no message left . . . did not try calling back . . . personally, if I don't know the number I never answer.

Reply Y to send all TXT messages to this # for $0.25/msg. + std"

Recieved two calls, but never picked up, and no message was left.  Was at 8:30 pm.

I just got the same call that my address was updated, I asked her what it was updated to and she advised me to call *611 on my cell (which is verizons help number on my cell number) that she did not have any details that I would have to either online or call customer service

This person left a message.

Supposedly it was VERIZON checking on my plan.
