Yep, this is a credit collection company from Sears Cards.  In 2007, after two years of making payments on time, or sometimes only 1 to 3 days past the due date, and always as much as $600 more than the minimum payment due, they cancelled my card and jacked my rate from 17% up to %33 percent because I was late 3 months in a row.  I had been a Sears Credit Card customer since 1984.

I called them to get them to reduce my interest rate back down to 17% because I had lost my job, husband had lost his job, we had lost our house, savings, and everything, but were still making our payments on time or just a couple days late, and always paying way more than the minimum.  There were even 3 months where the minimum due was $0.00 and I sent them $100.00 each of those months.  They would not be reasonable.  So I told them, "Fine, I'll never send you another payment."  And I didn't.

They harrassed me for months.  Then they suckered me into a deal where if I paid 4 months on time, where they were allowed to automatic withdrawal from my checking account each of those months, then they would reduce my interest rate back to the 17%.  I agreed.  But when the 4 months was up, they put the rate back to 33%.  I called again, and was told that I had to be enrolled in that kind of plan for a minimum of 6 months before they would revert my interest rate to the 17% it had been back before they doubled it for no good reason.

I refused.  I told them that the only way they would ever get another dime out of me was if they agreed to a 0% interest rate.  That was the only way I would ever give them access to my checking account to automatically withdraw payments.  They finally agreed to zero percent.

So if Sears is jacking you around for no reason, like they did to me, don't cave!  Stick to this plan and demand a 0% interest or refuse to pay them, ever!

My $6,000 debt will be paid off by the beginning of summer now, where before, it would have taken 100+ years on their 33% plan.  Don't let them screw you over.  Get all names, dates, etc, when you talk to them.  They lie and cover for each other.  They say that "this plan is a promotion we're only doing for the next 10 days, you need to make a decision" blah blah blah.  THEY LIE.  Don't believe them.  Make them give you 0% interest!
