I have received 2 missed calls from 385 207 7042. I too had no idea who this number belonged to, I didn't have "Utah" on ID just the number. I thought the number was from Canada. I'm pleased I checked Internet. If they happen to call again they will get an ear full.

I live in New Zealand and got a call to my mobile asking to speak to the househder to answer a questionnaire. I was so annoyed having gone unlisted recently. How do you stop these annoying calls?

Yip....Im in New Zealand and they called my cell number asking "to speak to an adult". Told them I didnt have time and they pretended not not to hear me. This was yesterday and then they rung again today so I ignored it. Strange. I'd like to know how they got a hold of my number!?

They called me twice and I'm from NZ also! Told them that yesterday but still wanted my assistance. Said no thanks, then called again today. Noone spoke on other end. Did they get our number from an app or something?

We received several calls from Survey Sampling from both 385-207-7038 and 385-207-7042 (they never leave a message).
Thanks for the tip Grouchy Gramps! Currently we are at our limit and are unable to block any additional calls...we'll be checking out the Panasonic KX-TG7873 tomorrow.

These devious pests now hold position #37 on my new Panasonic KX-TG7873 system that blocks up to 250 callers. Panasonic is to be lauded for their efforts at increasing their systems capabilities to block unwanted calls (previous models were for 30 blocks) Finally lots of peace and quiet in our home. These unrecognized calls come in - I check 800notes, see them listed as riff-raff, then add their number to my block list. How sweet is that?

Just saw a missed call from this number... there is no one in the US who would know my New Zealand phone number so clearly not from anyone I know...
| L 2013-09-07 02:11:28 Unknown |
Just got the same call as above ^^ and I live in New Zealand too. Didn't answer though..weird.
| Mac 2013-09-07 01:24:00 Unknown |
Number comes up as 001-385-207-7042 on my phone. That is because it is showing the country code for USA before the area code as I am in New Zealand! Nothing said when I answered...just a dead line like they had mute on. They hung up after I said hello twice.

It is a survey company. What a 50 people comment and not one person has it right yet? It is a survey company. They do surveys for large wireless companies like AT&T T-Mobile etc. etc.

they just called. I didn't answer. Caller ID says Survey Sampling

So far, have received only 1 call from this number at 05:50 pm, Friday 08/23/2013. Calls were to my land line, area code 605, phone in South Dakota. Caller ID name read "SURVEY SAMPLING". I didn't answer call so I don't know what the content of the call would have been about.
A Google search for "Survey Sampling" does show a company called Survey Sampling International - SSI. They do have a website information page that gives some information on the company and a couple of ways to opt out from future calls.
http://www.surveysampling.com/en/General/Received-a-Call
It seems like a legitimate survey company. (Assuming that the calls apparently being made from 385-207-7042 are actually coming from that company. It's nearly impossible to trust anything.)

HOW TO THROTTLE BOGUS CALLS (updated 03/21/2012)
Ok, here's a solution if your phone has a contacts list--it works quite well on my iPhone, which allows unlimited phone numbers for any contact.
Step 1, create a contact named something like these names
IGNORE JUNK CALL
SCAMMING SCUMBAGS
FRAUDSTERS LIST
.....
Step 2, select a SILENT ring type for this contact. Or, select a distinctly unusual ring tone like
CRICKETS or
MOTORCYCLE or
RIFLE...
This lets you know if a repeat caller is on the line, but I prefer the silence myself. My iPhone lights up showing the caller ID, even though I have a silent ring.
Step 3. Enable CALLER ID to be displayed for incoming calls that are made to your phone. It's a pity these stealth calls UNKNOWN, or OUT OF AREA, or their ilk, can't be blocked by any phone I know about. My iPhone won't let me put these names where the phone number field is entered.
So, what you do is to put the phone numbers of all bogus and scam callers that contact you, or try to call you, in this special contact.
Also, unless you recognize a toll free number owner, let all calls of this type go unanswered, and if no
voicemail is left, add the Caller ID (their phone number) into the IGNORE JUNK CALL contact.
Also add any other bogus calls
you get or know about, well they go in this contact too.
This may mean also all callers that don't leave a voice mail, or are soliciting you for services or products who you don't have a business relation with. And slime bags you don't want to talk to, like that jerk at the bar, or your ex.
For new toll free and also out of area calls: run these numbers
through Google search to see if they have been reported as junk or have been identified by others as scams.
Don't call an unsolicited toll-free number back, it captures your own phone number, and you will get on other scam lists to call you.
Toll free numbers all have area codes from this list: codes 800, 888, 877, 866, and codes reserved for future expansion include 844, 833, 822, 880 through 887, and 889.
FURTHER: Don't take the default voice mail prompt that came with your phone, because it usually
speaks your phone number and indicates you aren't around to pick up the call and maybe even speaks your name as well.
Record a new one
like "Sorry I missed you, your message will be appreciated".
Friends will know your voice. Scammers, not so often.
My list is long now, my silent ring saves me from tons of spam and scam, and yes, the do not call list is worthless, and toothless as well.
Please feel free to copy this post anywhere, and to any forum.
Consider writing a letter or email to your phone supplier, or your congressman to fix this awful state of affairs, and to put some teeth into the DO NOT CALL law. Ask them to shut down the services that allow fake telephone numbers to be used as well.

Sounds like the kind of scam company that is phishing for information or someone that hates you wants to annoy you so they put your number out there......BAD KARMA coming to all involved who bring this kind of annoying pain into a household trying to have peace everyday. Everytime you call, it's more bad karma. Everytime someone tries to slip your number out of retaliation to someone out there like this, is more bad karma. Rest in that. Peace.

These people are NUTS. My disabled sister almost fell down and hit her head trying to answer their 10th call of the day. They are putting people's lives in danger.
