Keep in mind that you cannot and will not be arrested for a debt. Its civil, not criminal and the police will not get involved. Any threats of you being arrested are scare tactics to get you to pay.

Demand paperwork. If they cannot and will not provide it, tell them you'll be happy to see them in court and hang up.

If they call back, ask them if they're going to provide you proof with paperwork yet. If they say they cannot and/or will not, tell them thats too bad and hang up. Repeat as needed.

Legit companies will always provide proof in paper when asked and are required to by law. If a company refuses, it is thus reasonable to assume they are not legit.

I just got the exact same message a Mr. Woods (couldn't make out his first name) who claimed to be with the criminal justice legal and law services.  I know my credit is bad and I am trying to repair it, but the caller's threats seemed a little excessive (he also said there would be a warrant issued for my arrest).

Caller saying I had a defaulted online loan that did not exist. Caller identified himself as Lionel Woods of the Criminal Justice League of Los Angeles. Caller stated there would be a warrant issued for my arrest if I did not work this out. I reported him to the Tx State Atty Generals office. They assured me it was a scam.

I got a phone call from 3157504384 saying there has been a lawsuit filed against me because of a loan I did not pay with the bank. They're from quickcashnet for my bank. If I don't take care of it, tomorrow morning I will be taken to court. When I called my bank, they said there's no lawsuit on my report. They asked for the # that has called me, the first thing they said to me after the hear the area code, was 'are you sure they said they're for the bank? And we don't make those kinda phone calls. We send a letter to you in the mail. Never over the phone!' I was shocked when I heard those words. After I spoke to the bank, I don't pick up the phone when that # call me and then after 10 minutes, this 386-269-1768 # called me but I had a feeling it was the same thing, so I didn't pick up!

OMG this # called me and some other #. They scared the crap out of me. They started today. They told me is for the $ I owe the bank. But when I called the bank, they said they don't have any relationship with those area code #s. After they told me that, I stopped picking up the phone. That's the reason why I'm going to change my number. And go to the police station as Sandra suggested! Thanks for letting me know it's a scam!

I keep getting calls from different numbers and this has been going on since june of this year.  This number is the latest number he has called me from.  They say that if I dont pay money for a loan that I took out last year that I will go to jail.  I never took a loan out last year and they have been threatening me since june and I am still here.  If you get a call from this number it is a scam.  I have also gotten calls from a pennsylvania, new york and other numbers.  The people who keeps calling me sound indian.  They even have a supposedd officer call me from a 911 number when I have been told that police officers usually call from their cell if they need to talk to you.

If you get a call like this you should immediately report it to your local police station and they will help you take care of it.
