http://www.webwithwes.com/defeat.htm

The TeleZapper is a device that plays the first tone in the three tones that precede the telephone company's historic "This number has been disconnected" message. Most telemarketing dialers listens for that tone, and when it is present, assumes the number is disconnected, the telemarketing dialer will immediately disconnect and delete your phone number from it's data bank list.

This is easy to set up, if you have an answering machine and sound for your computer you have everything you need.

If a computer Telemarketer calls, they won't leave a message (because the dialer has hung up, removed your phone number from the database and moved on to the next number in it's database). If it's a friend, well; life is normal, no change. If your not home, they can record a message for you. Your friends will hear the 'DO-DA-DEE' and then your voice greeting, after which they can leave a message. (Or if you use the single tone they will hear just 'DO'). If after hearing who's on the other end of the line and you want to take the call, simply pick up the handset and say "Hello"

Follow the instructions listed below and all of your calls will be screened AUTOMATICALLY!
Here's How it's Done:

Put your TELEPHONE ANSWERING MACHINE next to your computer speaker, (Or the other way around) and play the sound file. Record the sound file at the beginning of your outgoing message, then simply complete your voice greeting. Now your done! Now just sit back and let the answering machine screen your calls.

After perhaps a month of letting your answering machine screen all of your evening and weekend incoming calls, you'll have the same results as a $40.00 TeleZapper. It's that easy, It's that fast! This will work on any answering machine, digital or tape based and is compatible with Call Waiting & Caller ID. It will even work with the answering service provided by most telephone company's. (Except you don't get to screen your calls this way, this is because you would not be able to hear the callers message).

Read this in an earlier post--haven't tried it yet, but it seems to have potential. (The Do not call list per se isn't really very good, but perhaps the complaint part is, especially if enough people complain.)
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2
There's also an FCC internet address for complaints, but I've got to find it.

In the meantime, you can get some respite by getting a phone?or a phone service?that has call-blocking. I use both, 30 numbers in my Panasonic phone, and 15 in my phone company website. At least it deters them for awhile.

Got a call from 401-365-6307 and got a message that if I wanted to be put on a do not call list press one; it sounds like an automated message and I didn't press one ; the line disconnected .  I don't know what is going on but  somehow this is got to stop. I know that the FCC has a hard time monitoring airways and bandwidth  but theres got to be away to stop hackers from getting telephone numbers.

I have been receiving numerous calls daily from this number.  I press two, when prompted to do so, to remove myself from the list.  I have pressed one, when prompted to do so, to speak to a representative. Someone named Brian answers and then immediately hangs up on me.  I have called the number back and pressed one to be removed from the list and I still keep getting the calls.  HELP!!!!

Surely a scam. I don't even have a credit card or use credit cards therefor why would they be calling me?? If someone really needs help with debt there are legitimate non-profit companies that will help you legally and honestly. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS CRAP. Obviously you do not have the money to loose to learn a tuff lesson. It is bad enough they're calling on people's cell phones!!! GOD BLESS:)~

401-365-6307 called at 10:23am, 26 Jan 2012. I didn't answer, i never do when i don't know who's calling. I have a LG800G Tracfone, it's setup to reject any unknown callers. My phone just blinks and i never hear a sound. I also never set up my voice mail, why? When someone calls i have a record of who called, i can call back if i choose, which i do with a family member. I don't need to spend money to call VM to hear a message from bill collectors or someone selling something or polls, surveys, politicians.

LG800G, best phone i ever owned.

"Accelerated Debt Solutions" - called 11/29/2011. I spoke to "Dave" and asked to be put on the do not call list. Today, 12/1/2011, I got an automated call on my voice mail from this number.

I called 401-365-6307 and a recording said "Hello and thank you for calling, if you would like to be placed on our do not call list, press one." I did. We will see if they call again....

I registered today with https://www.donotcall.gov/ so if they call after 31 days from now, I think they can be fined or slapped in the head with a large salmon.

In fact it works really well, but it doesn't do you you think. It confirms your number so they can add it to the sucker lists they trade among other scammers.

You really think some crook is going to stop calling you because you call back and press some number? You must be terminally stupid, or you "work" there, or both. Otherwise why are you telling people to call scammers back?

NEVER CALL SCAMMERS BACK.

If you DO want to be placed on their do not call list, push 1.  And it DOES work.

Actually, the "do not call" list has the opposite purpose -- it is used to verify
that the number dialed by the automatic dialer is a valid working number and
places you on the confirmed list to receive unlimited spam calls in the future
from the companies that buy the list.
