received notice that i am awarded a new e-pad touchpad tablet complete with android software or a new laptop/netbook computer complete with software and if i response within 72 hours will also receive a $100 restaurant dining card. Sponsored by DirectBuy of Providence, 222 Metro Center Blvd, Suite 2 Warwick RI 02886. This is listed as a mobile #. Advised to call this number for the awarded.

This Rhode Island letter is indeed for Direct Buy. If you want to have to make an appointment to actually go to DirectBuy and deal with their high pressure sales tactics; all for the luxury of having to pay shipping and handling ($50-$100 I would think) for a super cheapo tablet; then go right ahead and call them back. Not for me though. I think DirectBuy is like Sam's club/BJs but way more expensive (I think they have furniture and appliances which Sams does not).

@Malynn - Did your daughter receive a laptop? If so, did she have to buy the membership, or did they just give it to her for listening to their spiel? I'm curious, like Elizabeth.

I also received a form letter in the mail for a laptop. If it's Direct Buy as 'Ken' reported above, they're a company that wants people to spend about $6000 for a 3-year membership to their "direct from wholesaler' or 'direct from factory' purchase program, where you can buy practically any large-ticket item under the sun that people use- furniture, sports equipment, etc. My daughter did it a few years ago and has never used it. If they give you a laptop for listening to their spiel...?

I called the number here in RI. 401-391-8687 and it said "congratulations from Direct Buy" you have been awarded a new epad or laptop, please leave your name and number and we will call you back. Yeah, right, its a scam.
