This was an automated dialing system used by a company called Reliable Listing Services. They claim to offer SEO services for Google ranking in search engine results.

They play a short recording that mentioned something about Google and it gave me the IMPRESSION that the call was coming from Google. They don't mention THEIR company and I think this is VERY deceptive. Once you hear the name Google and there is nothing that clarifies what the call is about, so naturally you stay on the line to learn what it is.

They call companies if you have a listing in Google and offer to sell you a monthly service for $199 which is a "discount" from their normal price of $299.

The rep told me they don't use their own service when I asked him. So if they don't even use their system to market their own business, so why would anyone else want to use it? If they have to use telemarketing, what does that say about the quality of what they offer?

Then, when I informed him that I am on the federal and state DO-NOT-CALL lists, he said he didn't WANT my business and hung up. He did NOT say he would remove our number from their system.

I am an Internet consultant with over 10 years experience. From what I can tell this is just another one of the rude, unprofessional,and over-priced SEO companies that gives our industry such a BAD REPUTATION. Please don't use any SEO or marketing company call calls you or sends you unsolicted spam emails. The professional companies don't need to do this, only those that want to take your money in return for very questionable services...!

Just got a call from this company. The guy appeared to be very friendly. Ofcourse to mask their true identity.

I thought it was someone in google, and I therefore stayed on the line

I received a VM indication on my cell phone and wasted time calling it only to hear a voice saying "press 1 now". I am on the Federal Do Not Call list. Apparently, this telemarketer is so sloppy, they don't even have equipment sophisticated enough to detect the end of a VM greeting.

Didn't get phone because I didn't recognize the number.  Hung up w/o leaving message.  Caller ID reads "Westerly, RI."

Recieved a call from this number today and they said "a representative is standing by regarding your information on google" Beware of these calls i've heard they are scams.

Got a call from this number today. It told me to press 1 to raise our google ranking. Didn't press 1 and waited to see if someone would come on, it just hung up on its own.
I've read about how to do your own SEO "legitimately". All the textbooks will warn you about companies like these telemarketers.

Picked up the phone and instantly realized it was coming from an automated dialing device so immediately hung up before anything more happened. I can tell when there is no initial connection on the other end because it "sounds dead."

From what the user said above, is this company clicking on ads and costing the advertiser money for the clicks?
