"Rose", a bubbly young woman, claimed I'd been selected to win a $1,200 GE wireless alarm system because of some survey I'd participated in. I demurred, saying I wanted to consult my wife when she gets home. Shortly afterward, her supervisor "Dennis" called back, saying he'd heard her on the phone with me and making a few more offers.
Something didn't quite feel right here. I fobbed them off for a while, but then I read that this is a common online scam (I asked twice for a callback number, and they were somewhat evasive).
So, what's up here?
