This scam by the "card services" scammers has been going on for a LONG time. They attempt to gain a person's credit card number or other personal information and then the problems begin, if that person gives it to them! They take advantage of mainly the elderly and the gullible. Many have lost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars to them. BEWARE,and warn others before they are cheated! The reason the numbers they APPEAR to call from are different is because they use all spoofed (false) numbers so they cannot be traced. You were smart to not fall for their scam, but others have not been so fortunate.

Scammers with a cause

Claiming to be credit services, they were offerring 6.9% interest rate for my credit cards as long as I had over $3,500 in credit card debt. They attempted to obtain all of my credit card numbers, so they could add the balances together. Because my debt was less than $3,500 the caller said he could get an exception from his manager and to stand by my phone as I would get a call within 30-40 minutes. Out of a magic hat, he handed the phone to his manager and they provided an exception instantly and proceeded to say just get her information. The next question was the kicker ... please provide your banking information... unreal. They are trying to get people to provide their routing and banking numbers from any check and claiming they cannot use the details to charge anything to my account without my handwritten signature. If anyone knows online shopping/billing/payments, etc. you can use a persons routing and banking number to make purchases in various ways.

After I told them I was not interested in the offer, they began to beg, shout I would be losing a good deal. I hung up.

Within 3 minutes, I get another call this time from a number in Nebraska 402-909-5728 .. It was the exact same person now trying to convince me to proceed with the 6.9% interest rate offer. He stated the main office is located in Florida and they have call centers everywhere, but how does one jump from Texas to Nebraska in 3 minutes is beyond me. They all sounded like foreigners with a cause to destroy people's finances and not help.

Stay aware and alert, this is modern day phishing!

If you Google my name you will see how myself and others have eliminated their annoying calls. It only takes a few efforts on a person's part, and the "card services" scammers will learn there is no one to cheat at your number, and it will be taken off their robodialer list.

I have been receiving calls from these 'card services' telemarketers for over a year now. I have been blocking each number they have called with (over 35 at this point). And I have been filing complaints with the FTC Do Not Call Registry and the FCC complaint site, to no avail. I do suggest you all do the same, and do not talk to them or call them back.

But to really get some attention, I created a petition on the White House We The People site. Please go there and sign it, we have to get the word out any way we can:

The call you received was not from any credit card company---it was the "card services" scammers trying to get your credit card number so they can rip you off! BEWARE, and warn others. People who have fallen for this scam have suffered severe financial losses!

I got calls from them too.  But recently I found a block app for my Galaxy Note 2 or Android phone and it will try to identify the caller and where he is from. It will also display positive SCAM and what other people are saying or experiencing about them calling.  This app also allows you to block any number you put on the block list.  It is very helpful but they can keep changing phone numbers.  So, I still think the government should do something about this SCAM.  Who is in charge of the do not call list?  Is it a business thing or a grant or fund by something and then dropped.

The app is called on Google play store:  Mr. Number.  Not sure if there are better ones.

If you got a call from this number or frequently get these types of calls I would suggest asking yourself if there is anyone who has a grudge against you. I've been cyber stalked, hacked and harassed by a Georgia based con artist and serial cyber stalker named Mike Smeth for nearly 2 years now. Prior to him defrauding me out of thousands of dollars I had never recieved a call like this. Since then I'vd recieved over 100. I strongly believe he may have submitted by number to scammers. He additionally lives on my home network and launches attacks at anything with an electronic pulse. He's also hacked, cyber stalked and harassed family members, friends and business partners. Just a thought that I thought was worth mentioning. Good luck :)

If I do not recognize a number, I send it to voice mail.

AFAIK - Do not call list for FCC is a joke.  These people should have been prosecuted by now if it were to be enforced.

I didn't answer this time, why doesn't the DNC have their number disconnected? All I had to do was to go here to discover that this is a very serious scam. There has to be a way to follow high volume calls, check their company, and if a phone exchange is complicit, HOLD them responsible. Thank you

Same as previous comments, claimed to be offering me a lower rate... when I could not answer his question (I did not have the card on me!) he explained that if this was a scam he would not be asking about the card with the highest balance on it, would he? At that point he tried to turn the tables and suggested I was being rude to him.  Really?  He asked what question he had asked in plain english that I could not understand....  I am English.... he was obviously not, so I asked what country he was calling from.  He dropped the F bomb and told me he was not prepared to help me... the call ended shotly thereafter.

You were called by the"card services" scammers. If you didn't give them your credit card number you should be OK,,but if you have any doubts call your credit card company and cancel your account and get a new card and number. These people have been working this scam for years and will take you for hundreds if not thousands of dollars.Generally they will call repeatedly. If you would like to know how to stop their calls, which try to take advantage of the elderly and the gullible,Google my name to learn how I have eliminated their annoying and potentially costly calls. BEWARE, and warn others!

They said they were calling from our credit card company and wanted to let us know it was our last chance to lower our interest rate.  They had enough information I thought it was legitimate.  They wanted all our credit card numbers and I kept asking questions but kept giving me the run around.  I did give them to much information and I am worried.  When  they ask me for my bank account number I said no and then someone gets on the phone and says it is the supervisor and I hung up and called my credit card company and they said it was a scam.  They don't offer anything like that on the phone,  It has to be in writing.  When the person called back I told them what my credit card company said and told them not to call me back.   I also called the number and it said if you want your name TAKEN OFF CALL LIST PUSH ANY NUMBER AND OF COURSE i DID.  i ASLO SENT A TEXT.  VERY SCARY
