Hello All,

I received the same scratch & win mail card mentioned above on May 15/2014.  I immediately assumed it was a scam when it showed I had won a Samsung Galaxy Tablet (especially since the picture of the tablet shown did not match the product description).  Also, there was no company names or identification on the card.  Never the less, I decided to investigate and play along.
Calling the number, a nice lady greeted me and had a "student" sent to my house the same day (today, May 16/2014).  After talking to the fellow, it became clear that he was not a student.  He wasn't sure what university he went to.  Since I wanted to play along and win a Samsung Tablet,  I didn't press the issue and offered the fellow a beer.
He proceeded with various fancy experiments (the same which I remember doing in Chem 30 back in High School), I asked him a few questions to determine his knowledge, which was surprisingly satisfactory.  He also stated he worked for STAR WATER SERVICES.  I had him pause his experiments while I Googled the company on my phone.  Sure enough, many consumer reviews popped up and the local CTV news station has already gotten wind of the fishy sales tactics.
After he ran out of convincing experiments, we discussed price, which ranged from 3000 to 6000 dollars.  I took a couple photos of his manual, since he did not have any literature to give me (said he company was environmentally friendly).  I'll compare the prices he claimed his competition posts later.
After all was said and done, he finally looked at my scratch & win card.  According to his "master list" I did not win a Samsung Tablet.  Instead, he gave me a 250$ Hotel Gift card (for some un-named hotel... I have yet to search out the legitimacy of this product as it looks like another scam).  He took my scratch card with him.

The process took two hours, as I enjoyed playing along with the gag.  Despite not receiving the promised physical prize, I had a lot of fun questioning the salesman and throwing him off his routine.

OMG thank you sooo much, we had the exact same poker card and also won the "Full House" card. I visited this page after we called, noticed it was a scam, then quickly called and decided to cancel the scheduled meeting. Thank you, as you may have saved us 3hrs of our life, aswell as... maybe someone getting injured! xD

Thanks for the comments everyone. This saved me a painful 2 hour experience, and probably punching someone in the face.

I have a Star water system and I love it. I wouldn't move without taking it and they call once a year to make sure everything is still good PLUS if I need anything they service it for free. My friend has a KINETICO system which no longer works and she has to pay them 400 to come and fix it. I may have paid more for my system but the product is really really good in my experience. Door to door sales might seem like a scam but a lot of them are legit. Also let's be real everyone, you take business cards and never call anyways so they are a waste of money! I have my own business and I spend so much in cards with no phone calls

I also got a scratch and win ticket in the mail with this phone number (403 230 5272) as well as 403 230 4285. This time though it was a poker game. I scratched it and found I won (which so did everyone else who scratched it) with a full house. I noticed on the fine print it says "All entrants must qualify for, and agree to, a home care product presentation" which immediately raised a red flag, and after googling the phone number I quickly found this page which says its a scam.

We also got a bingo card and it was weird that there was no company name on it and the phone numbered was stamped. When I called they never said what company they were and took our info.
We just had someone named William come to our house for the demo. He was suppose to show up between 8 and 9pm, and finally did so 9:10pm. He did a very convincing demo and was very polite and quite young.  He didnt tell us the company name until we asked.  We did an evaluation of his demo after saying we would have to think about signing up and buying the system. He then used our phone to call his boss and rehash the evaluation to him; Mr. Something-Starting-with-a-'K'. He then passed the phone to my partner and had a long conversation about why we weren't buying and the cost, offering us a special family deal. We also 'won' a blue plastic shower head and the whole event ended 3 hours after it started.

Thank you for posting the information... I had the same experience. I got triple bingo and won a price... and called them. But when he asked what was my address  I decided to find some information about them on the net.  He said his name is West. Now Star water don't need to come at my house, because I'm just not interested on buying anything. My water is OK. :)

Thanks for posting all this information it really helped!!  I called the number back and asked them not to come to do the demo.  They didn't even ask when you recieved the Bingo Card in the mail as their contest rules state that you are to call within 72 hours of recieving the card and they never ask for the skill testing question answer either.  I am glad that I went online and checked this out first.  The Lady on the phone name was Marissa and that the company name was Star Water Services.  When I looked on the business finder list I couldn't find the company name.

I called that number and ended up agreeing to a trainee coming to the house to talk about their water purification system it took 2 hours and then the urging of having me buy the system . The manner of the trainee changed when I would not agree to signing in on this and it seemed that two people were involved the trainee and then the boss on the phone who makes a special deal for you. It at minimum 3ooo and then they come and check it monthly. How this purification works is by micro balls that filter all the hardness etc. out and then it goes back into your water ?? Very little emphasis is on what their system really is but just on how much better the water will be .the demo was convincing.but th only thing he said is that the company is called west and its made in Regina.  you only get the prize if you sign on but gift is a shower head. it as th triple bingo card in the mail and the prize  that I called. quy came same day i called.

any time you receive anything in the mail, e-mail or by any other means simply do this   google the phone number or other pertinent information then write  SCAM and hit send. you will no doubt find something crooked behind it,  be especially wary if you did not even enter any draws contests, etc  thanks Eric

I got triple bingo card in the mail and win they left their number  to call "403-230-5272" I called them and a laidy told me someone will come to my house to check the bingo card and bring the prize They are scam the person who came said they are a company sale water purification.  I didn't feel they are real company because I asked the person about a brochure or the company name but he said I am the brochure!! Then he asked to us my kitchen sink to show me the quality of the water. I told him I am not prepared for that and asked him for a business card so I can call him later,  he said he does not have a business card and he said ?how I give you my personal information?? I told him you come to my house and want to inter the house and use my kitchen and don't want me to know who you are?. So I closed the door on his face and told him if you are representing a company tell your poss. it is not a good way to conduct a business. They are a door to door sales company but they fool people by sending this bingo card. If they are a real registered company they will have nothing to hide and they will be happy to put their name on public. Since they are hiding their name there is something wrong behind the scene.
