I a, a single mother that escape abuse. Since then the neighobrhood association  has found a way to charge me 12000  . see what happen is they calaim I had not mow my6 lawn form the time my ex left until the  period almost two years later. When i contacted the homeowners association aobut the eltters they said ignore it Including the law suit papers.  On then papers there was no judges name nothing was on them to indicate where to file or get assisted to stop it.  I called legal aid which told me with 1100 a month income i was ineligible for any type of legal aid she needed to collect information for the debt lawyer. it did not matter the unfairness. But she informed me with another attorney that they would put a lien on the house and that there was nothing i could do. If I got a job I would have it garnish for 25 percent. HM the thing is this that i am not working. Now they have levy my daughter and son in law account. They call the attorney to get the junk off their account  and  they were told if i give them the information where they can collect 12000 dollars from then they will if it from their account maybe. . maybe they will ift it. and replace the money they stole from it. i just call the attorney of course no answer. This attorney is not even in the county where i live. But they persist. arg./g I am so frustrated . i guess i should go back to my abuser just wait to die. because that what all this is about... Now  I have my daughter and my son in law to feel guilty aobut something where none of this is justice welcome to america or worst welcome to this world... Youw ant to know why they go back maybe because states and local attorneys and others make it impossible to live otherwise. .......

Two things:

1. Move to Florida the only state the home is protected from litigation 100%.

2. Or move the home into a irrevocable trust with 2the trusted friends as trustees.  This makes the house unattachable by leins aginst YOU as it is not your house.  Also makes you harder to find id you use a p.o. box.  You can sell the house by selling the trust and avoid real estate costs.

While I agree with they must have a court order, Georgia does make it easier for them:

Watch Out for Attachment and Liens

Georgia makes it easy to establish a lien against youor to attach your property. The situations where the creditor can get a lien or attachment include when:
?
You are living out of state;

?
You are about to move outside the Georgia county you were living in; or,

?
You try to hide or flee, or try to move property out of state.

The main federal debt collection law, the FDCPA, has a provision that says that if a debtor disputes the debt within 30 days of receiving written notice, the creditor needs to stop collection activities until it provides proof, or "verification," of the debt.

However, while a creditor can't start or instigate a lien after the debt has been disputed, if they had already put a lien in place, they don't need to remove it. That actually creates an incentive for creditors to establish a lien immediately, before you contact them to dispute the debt.

So keep in mind that in Georgia, liens are fairly easy to get and creditors may file them pretty quickly.

Baloney!
Have to have a COURT order, unless you're dealing with the IRS.

Yes, it is a crock. America---Land of the Dispossessed. Gotta love it. Unfortunately, I lost everything during the recession and have nothing left for them to attach. They need to go after those who have the money but won't pay and leave the rest of us alone.

HM they just called here. I t was like pulling teeth to find out who they were. The thing is the name they ask about i have no bills in that name nor do i put any bills in that name. Think it is one of those penny debt collectors looking to  victimized me again. It seems cause my last name is popular they put every bodies debt on me. When i call att and  team mobile and charter and ask if they gave them my name what they are calling about . The companies have no idea about the debt. it is sad but true. They are scamming many people . In Georgia they just attach liens to your house. They dont even notified you. No judge needed the attorney do it it is legal. what a crock living in America.
