Received call from "Brian" asking for one of my sons. He stated he represents "Humphreys Group" and wishes to talk to him about a very important matter.
I Google the company with no success and then the telephone number and learned it was a scam based on other folks experiences.

I'm receiving numerous calls at my place of employment form this number and sometimes it says private.  They leave a message telling me that it's about a suspicious transaction with my TCF Bank account which by the way I don't have.  My job has told them I can't receive personal calls, and even went as far as to tell them I am no longer employed just to get them to stop.  But, the asked for my HR phone number to verify employment.  I can't keep getting these calls at work or I may lose my job.  I understand that it is a law that if told you can't receive calls at you job they have to stop.  How do I get them to stop calling.  Where did they get my information from?

Report it to the FTC  877-382-4357 or electronically at www.ftc.gov, and if you are in texas contact the attorney general electronically at www.texasattorneygeneral.gov............on both of these websites (which look identical) there is a link for consumer complaints.
When Ms. Chase figured out that I actually did some research, she hung up on me twice without giving me a chance to say anything, then let the answering machine answer.  I called from my home phone, and when they called right back, I figured out they have caller ID.  The last message left said that she was going to send me a collection letter as I requested.  It's been a week now, no other contact.  Also watch out for a phone number that's close to that one but ends in 5866 instead of 5886.

I too was contacted by this company, who claimed to be the actual company that had bought my outstanding debt.  I had to go borrow over a thousand dollars because I thought they were legitimate.  I called them when I deposited the money, told them when I got home and checked to see if the deposit was posted, that I would call them back.  The rep who identified herself as Beverly Chase promptly inquired as to exactly how much I had deposited.  RED FLAG #1.  They have left 4 messages on my voicemail, the last one stating that I must be a "professional", and have no intention of paying anything I owe.  I have filed a complaint with the FTC, and will be doing the same with the attorney generals office.  They stated in the first conversation, that they had sent several correspondences, of which I recieved none.  Then, when asked for a collection letter to be sent to me, she said that her company had just recently acquired this debt.  So, I called her out on it, telling her what she had stated earlier in the day....she did a quick retake and started to harass me, saying that there were legal CHARGES pending in my county.  I called the county sheriff's office, and they stated that this is a CIVIL matter, and all they could do is take me to court and get a judgement.  The collector called this "theft by deception", and although I had made several payments in the beginning, stated that I had too many excuses and that I had no intention of ever paying them.  The sheriff office, the FTC, and the original creditor all told me to ignore them.  I put a fraud alert on my credit too, and requested a credit report to verify some things.  DO NOT FALL FOR THIS LIKE I ALMOST DID.

My husband received a call from this # at his work--this guy spoke to my husband's supervisor--told him they were gonna issue a warrant--left this #-that he better call him back. So my husband in turn calls me-whats all this about?  Since we've been having such a hard time-financially-this year, we havent been able to catch up with all our previous debtors--we've been in such a bad way--its been insane. Of course, I am the one who pays the bills--& I get to deal with anything & everything. So--I called this #--no answer. Left message. Called again--left message--again. I didnt have any idea what this was about, so I searched the name Ron Banks---& here I am---left with not knowing what to think. And over the weekend no less. Thing is, in April, we got hacked into--thru our email account, thus our checking account. This guy supposedly mentioned our bank--of course we're worried. Then I come here & I don't know what to think. Something in my gut told me to google this name--now what?

I got a call from this number, something about JP Morgan Chase and there being a claim filed against me. I have never done business with JP Morgan Chase bank, and having been cleaning up my credit and opening every piece of collector mail within the last year, I can safely say I've never received any information before this phone call saying I owed anyone money. Since my wife and I started cleaning up our credit and paying off old debt, this is the third person who has called us, claiming we are going to be served or whatever. The first one, my wife filed a complaint on with the attorney generals office and won a settlement because they violated numerous federal laws by attempting to collect a debt that was non-existant (scam). The second, we warned them of the numerous federal laws they were breaking by claiming they would serve us, by not identifying themself as a debt collector, and attempting to collect a debt they didn't legally own. We looked up the company they claimed we owed money to, and that company didn't even exist. This company doesn't really know who they are trying to scam. When I called it back, it said it was "Ron Banks in the claims investigation department," although no company name was mentioned, nor did he leave the name of the company he worked for in the voicemail. I guess our name was put on some sort of scam list, which is why we continue receiving these calls. The first time, I went ahead and paid it, because they had my bank information and address, however, disputed the charge and also won a judgment. Always investigate who these people are! They will know your information to convince you the debt they say you owe is real and will scare with tactics of serving you in court. It's illegal to say that without them having any intention of filing suit, first of all, and even if they did serve you, they would have to prove before a judge that they are legally able to collect on the debt if it's real, therefore, you would surely have heard about it before. These people are unbelievable!
