Yellow Pages Prime,  yellowpagesonline.net
and a few others, check their basic listings for companies. they don't offer a 'free update' without having to deal with them on the phone...they are most likely a scam . .

all the reputable companies don't demand to speak with you for a free
listing...you can place these ads yourself online...you might get a follow-up
call from AT&T, or yelp for an upgrade listing . .but they would also have
a written contract . . not a verbal contract . . .

they called me, trying to bill me . . for a 'free listing' i never even placed, went to their cheezy website..their free listing is NOTHING but your phone # and address  . .you can't even click on the listing for more detailed information
such as hours , services, photos, website, email . .NOTHING..in other words they 'list businesses' without the owners consent (completely legal) but after 2 years of your ' free listing ' they BILL you for the 2nd year of your listing .  .that you never authorized . . .even if you did list your company manually as a basic listing . .they have NO RIGHT to bill you without a formal contract ..  .tell the company to pound sand and SUE YOU  . .. NO CONTRACT - NO WAY CAN THEY , OR WILL THEY SUE YOU .  .if they try to ding your credit you sue the hell out of them for fraud . . .

Beverly, I'm sorry you got scammed. Do you have an update? Were you able to prove to your credit company that this is a scam? Because you received pornography via the mail, you can contact the FBI. Good luck with this.

This is a scam, but I'm not sure how they are making their money. Can anyone tell me?

I got a call from 404-889-8270 today from a woman with a British/Indian sounding accent saying she was from the Yellow Pages. She said my listing was expiring and wanted to know if I wanted to renew. I told her that I had not asked for a listing in the first place and would not be interested.

She said I had "verbally" authorized a two year listing in 2010 and that I had paid for it. I asked how much I had "paid" for it... she said $500. I told her I certainly would NOT have paid $500 for a listing. She said the reason I had not paid for it is because they haven't invoiced me yet--they don't invoice until the end of the two-year listing.

I told her that I would not be paying the invoice and she said that they will send it to a collection agency. I told her, "Please do send it to a collection agency." She hung up on me.

Received this call at 5:15 PM. Upon answering, the line hung up, so I called it back and got a message stating that it was a disconnected number.

Received a call from this number coming from Atlanta, a woman told me she was calling from Yellow Pages, and that we had complementary listing with them 2009-2010, and she was renewing it. I said we did not need it, and did not remember if we had any listings! She yelled "yes you do otherwise, why did you listed in the first place! I said "I never did, but if I did, I made a mistake even to accept your complimentary offer" She screamed "STOP IT YOU ARE GETTING a BILL" and hanged up! I called the number, but there was a massage that the number was no loner in service!!! Watch out!!

I just hung up on this phone number, and I am echoing every last comment made on here. They wanted me to pay $599.95 for the past 2 years, even though the first year was free. WE NEVER authorized anything!!! Unbelieveable! Sounds like as soon as you ok the cancellation you have accepted that you owe them this money. Do not accept the cancellation invoice.  I even looked up the website, the yellowpagesonline.net and we are on it, but it looks like it is any old name and number. Just has my husband's name and address on it and says heating contractor. Doesn't even have our business name on there.  Unbelieveable. I don't know who I will be reporting this to, but I am reporting this!!!!!

I got a call today from 404-889-8270 and the lady said that my husband had verbally authorized a subscription for 1 year and we owed them $599.00.  He told her that he never handles that only his wife.
(me).  He got into a heated argument with her and finally THREW the phone and said to talk to her.  She
said she would start over and said that my husband authorized verbally to 1 year free and 1 year @ $599.00.  I asked her when he did this and she said in 2009.  She asked me to confirm the cancellation and accept the invoice to be paid.  I told her I accepted the cancellation but would NOT accept that I owed her any money.  She said she then could not cancel my subscription ( That I never had) and would send
this to her corporate office to be handled by them.  It kinda sounded real because she kept referring to my husband by his first name, but  his name is also in his business name.  She said it was yellowpages.net
NOT yellowpages.com.  but nothing comes up @ .net it just throws you into .com.  CRAZY,... my daughter in-law typed the number into google and all this came up and we realized it was a scam.   The lady said she would call back on Monday and we could straighten this out.......Well, I'll be waiting on that call...................

I just got a call from this number to update my information and renew.  Told her I didn't want Yellow Pages On Line and had never ordered it.  She said if I cancel, corporate would bill me $599.95 since I had been listed in 2009.  When I asked why I hadn't gotten any bills yet, she said you only get billed when you cancel.  My caller ID showed the number came from the Atlanta, GA area. What a SCAM.  Don't give them any information and don't pay them anything. Report them to the proper authority in your state.

They called my business this morning too.
Hope they don't start calling as much as Protect America did.   I had to file a complaint with the FTC to get that to stop.

I just received a call from this number and the woman with the same accent as mentioned before gave me the same line she had offered everyone else. I immediately disputed the charge, she gave me some woman's name that she claimed I spoke to 2 years ago. I told her I did not speak to any one from her company and she said that she would send the account back to another department and they would contact me. She told me the amount I owed was $599 for 2 years of advertisement. My company has been closed for at least 2 years...

Are we on the same page? They call me for that number and told me my business is list on Yellow Pages. They want to charge me around 600,00 for 2 years of advertising. As like above also she said  she would refer this to her corporate office. As far I know my listing was free then if there is a change on terms then have to warning me about that. I am going contact them to ensure I have no services with them.

Received 2 calls from this number. I answered the second time. Lady asked for person in charge of advertising. After informing her I have never paid for online advertising with yellowpagesonline.net, she asked again if I was the one she should talking with. She said she was calling about a renewal. I told her I'm the owner and would know about advertising I've paid for in the past. She abruptly hung up after stating she would refer this to her corporate office. Thought it sounded fishy. Thanks for postings here. I was right!

I work for a small company and received a call from this number asking for the "person in charge." I told her technically the owner is in charge but he is not here and rarely is here. She proceeded to laugh oddly and go on with her information. She said we are calling because we see he wants to close his account. Luckily for use, our representative for the yellow pages is a great friend as well. I asked her who the representative was who set it all up. She read of some random name and I then told her that is not correct because I am good friend with our yellow pages rep. She got a little angry and I asked who exactly she was with again and she said yellow pages online. I said is that yellowpages.com she said yellowpages.net. I typed this in multiple times and I was redirected to yellowpages.com. I told her this and she became very angry and say NO THAT'S NOT RIGHT. She said it doesn't matter, she would have to send this to corrprate because she didn't get enough information. Not sure what that mean but her signing off statement was "thanks HUN." At that point I knew it was a scam. Apparently, if you quiz them on there information and they get nothing out of you it makes them explode. Might as well have some fun if they will blow your phone up.

See TN above and combine it with pissed landscaper above that.  You got my phone call.  Only thing is, she asked for one of the fake names I use to help stop this type of thing.  Glad I do that.  However, she does sound 100% legit.  I have to wonder how many unsuspecting folks the scam has worked on....she almost had me.

A woman called, who seemed very unprofessional. She asked for the the marketing director and bumbled through her introduction and claimed to work for "Yellow Pages Online". She then stated that my "promotional listing" was expiring and needed to be renewed at a cost of $599 per year. I told her that I wasn't even aware of doing business with them. She told me that I had signed up in 2009 on a 2yrs for the price of one promotion and asked me to verify my information to validate the account. I told her, since she had called me, she should have the info. She then replied with an incorrect name and a correct address. When I told her that the name was wrong, she said, "fine, we'll just send you your invoice" and hung up on me. I tried to call back but just get a quick busy signal.
