One of the local stations ran a story about a SCAM that is happening.  I live in Oklahoma and have received calls from this and other Oklahoma area code numbers recently that are not in my phone's contacts.  I don't answer calls that aren't in my contact list.
The story mentioned that you might get calls from numbers with no message and no one there when you answer.  Most people will immediately dial back the number and when you do you will find it is actually a number off shore and is an adult chat line.  Your phone bill will show a $40.00 charge for your return call and if you hang around on the line it will cost you an additional $10.00 a minute.
If you don't recognize the number, don't answer it.  Anyone who is trying to reach you will leave a voicemail message.  No message probably means it was a scam call.  Also, don't call back numbers you don't recognize.  You're only asking for trouble.

They said they were from Baker & Harris Lawfirm and that I needed to speak with their Paralegal.  I am a Paralegal and work for an attorney so of course I asked for the attorney info and was put on hold and they never came back.

Thanks for your post...
I was getting frustrated too because I receive phone calls from 405 562 85 87 from a Hindu guy that calls himself a lawyer. I don't get it; this idiot keeps asking for some Jessica Watson; I explained that that was my number and he just kept asking for the same person over and over ( about 50 times a day from different phone numbers)  .. I started receiving this calls after applying in care.com and career-builder.com
I can't believe this carrier-builder.com has a commercial and gets away with using our information for scams.
I don't think is worth it to put the phone number on this applications, after all the jobs are fake and we get stuck with the nonsense phone calls to the point that made me change my number.
before this so called Hindu lawyer at 405 562 85 87, I was receiving about 150 calls from incomplete numbers.  I called back  and there was a message that says it was from Verizon and to push some bottoms to get to my account... some other numbers were disconnected withing seconds. I called Verizon with all the numbers; they said the numbers did not exist but they did not care much that someone was using a message with their name; so it made me think that Verizon is involved on this BS somehow.

They call and leave a message, which I am unable to understand. I call back and still can't understand anything they are saying.  Then they call me back and I refuse the call, they kept calling over and over again for approx. 10 minutes, must have been 30 calls...each time I refused the call.  The only thing I was able to understand was they were calling from "The Attorney's Office"

I got a call from a girl today with an Indian accent but used the name Kim, which is mine. She said she was from either green mark or degree mart or something. I had applied through Indeed. I informed her that I was currently enrolled in school and she apologized and was very nice.

thank you for the information.  It makes complete sense because that is exactly what I am doing.  I apply for jobs online and have to go through all this crap in order to complete the actual app.

I think I may be able to shed some light on how these calls originate. Early last week, I applied for a job via one of those internet job sites. When I clicked the "Apply" button, I was taken away from the original job site, which I think was CareerBuilder or something like that, to another job site I was not familiar with, called "RetailGigs.com by Beyond.com". The prompts said I must complete their registration page in order to continue with my application and also instructed me to upload my resume at that point, rather than during the actual application process, so that they could compare my resume information to other jobs I might interested in. I had some misgivings but was in a hurry, so I did as requested. I noticed a couple of dialog boxes stating something to the effect that, "I agree to receiving information from your partners about educational opportunities". Again, I did not read it thoroughly and was in a hurry, so I went along with it. When I typed in all the requested info and uploaded my resume, I was taken to a page, supposedly to begin my specific application as I had intended, only to get a prompt saying something to the effect that, "The job listing is no longer available". Almost immediately, I began receiving calls from cell phone numbers I didnt recognize. Usually, I ignore numbers I don't recognize and if they don't leave a message, I don't return their call. However, after three calls from the same number, I called them back and was told I had reached an organization called "Ed Soup" which provides information about educational opportunities to people who request such information via the internet. I told the man I wasn't interested and to stop calling me. By the way, that number was (405)506-6915 and I couldn't find any of these complaint reports on it. This morning, I received a call from 405-562-6528 and came here for information about it. When I saw the comments on another site about the caller talking about education, I knew that it was probably another telemarketer that had bought my information from this unscrupulous job site. Its sad when you cant even a apply for a job without being scammed. Anyway hopefully, this information will be of use to others who receive calls from these vultures.
