This person is STILL getting away with scams!!! They really need to do something about this person- got two emails from him about my wedding dress posted on craigs list...why haven't they got in any trouble yet?!? It is fraud!!! Thank you everyone for posting- this is the only way I found out it is a fraudulent scam!!!

I have a wedding gown I listed on Craigslist just last week I too got a very odd email from Phillip B Soto of Oklahoma and decided too check his name and found this site..he asked me to send to his fiance' who saw my gown wanted it but she was in an accident and so he was sending a check for 2800 my dress is 400..keep 100 for shipping then send through western union the balance to her with the dress! my fiance' told me not to give our home address use his business one it didnt sound right..  this is a copy of the actual email

I got an email from a Philip Baker. I tried to call the number that the person gave me but it wouldnt go through. so i decided i'd look it up on the web and found this page. I'm glad i found it or i would've been in a lot of trouble. THANK YOU!

I got the same message without and area code & since I'm between my old & new house I posted in both cities & got same message response to both dress ads except sent from different email addresses & they changed the last name on their email but same first name: "Philip"

I just got this today... its a different phone number but same email... it looked like funny business to me so i googled the address... no such address and came upon this site.. just thought i would add this name and number to yalls list!

I have received several messages also from this so called phillip soto..........we agreed on a transaction through craigslist today until he said he was forwarding $2500 for a $100 dress and i looked him up and found these posts that this man is a fraud...........BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!

The above is the message I got too. I know if was fishy so I just told him I only except paypal and looked him up. Glad I found this site.

People BEWARE! I can spot scams pretty well these days (especially of craigslist) and this is one of them! If you have something posted on Craigslist and you get an offer form someone asking you to ship your item, don't do it! Sell locally only to be on the safe side! Also anyone offering you more money than what you are asking, is a scam!

This is a total scam.  I also received and email that they were interested in my dress I was selling.  Same 405-562-6982 number The name they went under was Philip Soto.  Beware

I got about 10 different emails about the dress I'm selling all saig the same b***s***  listed above  the latest  one was with this number 405 562 6982   this is y I only take cash when selling on Craigslist  beware  lots of people try to scam     also someone  was trying to sell a tractor on my Craigslist  acount so check ur listings if ur selling something

We posted my wedding dress from a previous marriage also. I have been contacted three times.  All three have been scams. Its so frustrating to not be able to just sell something and to have to be bothered by people like this. It would be nice if people would just make money the honest way.

Just got the same email as everyone else. I listed my wife's wedding dress from her first marriage on craigslist. I thought it sounded funny that someone from OK would be looking at my local craigslist ad. Thanks to everyone else for posting that this has happened before.

I called the police because I knew it was a scam but they said they couldn't do anything because it wasn't local and the FBI wouldn't take the case for a mere 2500.00. that is krap that I can't catch this guy. because what if I did cash the check. I would be in a world of trouble. I guess, if It sounds to good to be true it is!! watch out for this one. and remember what goes around comes around.

Obviously as others have received the exact, word-for-word email, it is fake.  Very disheartening and disappointing, my fiance and I are trying to sell my old wedding dress in order to afford our wedding.  We were very excited at the thought that someone might be willing to buy the dress and help us.

I as well got the same email from philip soto. Thank you everyone for writing, So glad I didn't go froward with this!
