They almost had me.  Their business ethic is nil.  I wasn't thinking but did get my money refunded.  I did not allow them to negotiate with my CC company; they did not hold up to the promise of a lower rate.  I told them to cancel, they refused;  Telephone conversation with them, they informed me it was being recorded about 15 mins into conversation - which is illegal; I asked them to replay the verbal agreement - no where did it say I could not cancel neither did their website have a cancellation policy; supervisor wanted to read it to me, I told her unless I have a copy as she reads, it's pointless; I asked them to refund my money - they refused; she claimed they sent me a package which I supposedly signed for (she claimed to have my signature and date right in front of her) - I asked for the information, she had nothing - the package was never sent - again asked them to refund my money - they refused.
Each time I challenged what she was saying, she changed and tried to bring up something else.
Supervisor started raising her voice speaking loudly and agressively.  I told her to calm down and watch her tone.  Called my CC company to refuse the charge; CC company contacted Siler - Siler had already issued a refund.  The latest company calling me is Omega Finan.  Maybe them in disguise.??

Lessons learned:  BE AWARE OF THEM AND OTHERS LIKE THEM!  THEY DON'T KNOW THE LAW EITHER.  YOU PRLBABLY KNOW MORE THAN THEY.

What concerns me more than anything else right now is the fact that these people have access to my credit information. It makes me wonder who else has this info? These people are telemarketers and they have my phone number, know how much my credit balance is, my address, who I have my cards with and who knows what else. No wonder fraud is so rampant. Our personal information is out there foir any nut case to get a hold of and run with. I am adopting a new policy of divulging much less information. Stay on your toes people!

I got a call from these folks and they are slick. I actually gave them a lot of personal info before the red flags I was tripping over finally got me to question their motives. In the middle of the conversation I made up some c*** and bull story about how I really needed to confirm with my husband that they could run a large balance for their services on my credit cards with their PROMISE to lower my interest rates. I told them to call my husband and they agreed. Then I called the credit card companies I had given them the numbers of, and cancelled those numbers and had new ones issued to prevent them from charging this fee on cards I'm trying not to use myself. Also I asked each CC co if they would lower the rates if this company contacted them and asked them to do so and THEY SAID "NO THEY WOULD NOT LOWER MY INTEREST RATES FOR THIS COMPANY IF THEY CALLED THEM ASKING TO DO SO" . So they would not have been able to fulfill their promise and they would have charged me for something I did myself for free. The banks did not lower my interest rates by the way. I'm glad I did some web searching while I was talking to them. The whole thing started to smell fishy when they finally said they would charge my account this large fee with this promise of lowering my rates.

Don't talk to them.  I pressed "1" and asked to be put on their do not call list -- which I find works to eliminate calls from most "legitimate" telemarketers.  This telemarketer said they did not have a call list, and went on to angrily argue with me about the nature of the call and talked over me when I pointed out CRTC regulations regarding telemarketing.  He was spouting information about what his company does -- but clearly didn't know what he was talking about.  For example, he was hollering about representing "FDIC insured" Canadian banking institutions, when in fact the FDIC does not even operate in Canada.  Don't waste your time -- just hang up.

Answered the call today, "last chance to cash in on lower insurance rates!!  Hit 1 for more details"  I hit "end call!!!"  My phone is set up to give a different ring for telemarketers.  It did not on this call, but then there was a number on call display, but "unknown name."

Just got a call from this number - "don't be alarmed but...".  I didn't bother to answer it, this was the message left on our answering machine.  It did give a "press 2 to be removed from the list" option but I figure that's like replying to spam emails...  All it does is let them know the number is good.

Great fun! Recorded message starts with, "There is no cause for alarm..." I went thru the "press 1" biz and got to talk w/ a supposed "live" rep. This lady went thru the spiel of how they can reduce my interest rate on my current CC balance. I said I was VERY interested!
She said that I would need to provide the details of my CC. I replied, "Really?? Are you sure? Because, man, like, I don't have a credit card, ain't never had a credit card and ain't never gonna get me a credit card, ever." Well, didn't stop this fine woman. She proceeded to tell me how she can sign me up with an excellent rate CC... blahblahblah. I hung up. Dang, that call did not end like I wanted it to...

Several calls claiming to be a "final" notice. I can only hope. I punched 1 and spoke with a woman claiming that she could reduce my credit card interest rate. I asked how and she said my credit showed which card I was using etc. I asked what company she represented and what information she had in "my file". She disconnected. Am I going to find a toll charge on my phone bill for pushing "1"? Funnily enough there is another call on my phone messages today. I guess final doesn't mean what I thought it did.

UPDATE:  Better Business Bureau just blacklisted this company last week (Oct 28/10):
http://www.bbb.org/central-florida/business-r ... wood-fl-1071234

Also some horror stories posted online from victims.  Google "Siler Financial Group complaints" ( and Reviews) to see more.  Greedy, ruthless con artist offers fake loans for a fee to desperate people -- and then once the fee is paid, nothing is done, contact is dropped, the scammers take your money and run.

Block these fraudsters and tell everyone you know to beware.

There was a recent news item warning against these kinds of scam callers. I've had three calls in four days. The latest one left a message. They're aggressive and expert at sounding plausible.  A Montana USA outfit is targeting Canadians lately (are we more gullible than most?) with promises to reduce credit card rates.  Absurd. We can do that ourselves if we call our creditors and present our own case.  Give these callers NOTHING & stay out of their clutches.

My Mom just got a call from these clowns.  They identified themselves as the manager of the Retention Department and they wanted to know if my mother had any credit cards with more than $4000 and if she had any credit card that was not close to the balance and in good standing.  Also, if she had a card that she was paying more than 10% interest on it.  When she asked if they represented VISA or Mastercard they said "both".  They then went on to say that the banks had forwarded her account information to them (so why the questions?).

My Mom said she could hear a whole call center of people talking in the background.  I'm inclined to agree with Rab, this is a full out phishing scam to get your credit card details so they can either sell the information to thieves or actually fraudulently use your credit cards themselves.

Go here to report them and their ilk to the police:

Claimed it was my "last chance" to reduce my cell phone rates. Just an other "phishing" scam. They're criminals, and they are just after your credit card number and other personal data so they can steal from you.

I live in Canada and have no debt whatsoever. Why does a company in Montana call me? I do not pay interest to anyone, no matter what the rate. When a bill comes in it gets paid in full asap. Please have these people stopped.

Got a call from these people.  When I asked who they represented and how they got my number I was called 'rude and ignorant'.  I asked to speak to the man's supervisor.  He told me I was the rude one and told me that  they were from IMS and recieved information about money I owed from the 3 reporting credit bureaus and they could save me money.  When I again questioned how they got my number (because they didn't even call me by my correct name) the 'supervisor' hung up on me.  I *69ed and called back and got a message saying I could press '1' to be removed from their calling list.  Very RUDE people!

Do people actually get sucked in by this stuff? I guess they do; otherwise the scammers would realize the futility and stop. Some folks probably shouldn't be allowed to have telephones. They ought to be taken away for their protection.

Claimed to be part of the 'Retention Department' of 'Siler Financial' and offered to negotiate on my behalf to reduce my credit card interest to below 9.9%. When I refused to provide my credit card number, I was passed to two other people who tried to overcome my 'concerns' and then suggested I should be focusing on getting out of debt. Very persistent and spinning a more plausible story than most.
