They keep calling every day, usually when we're busy or eating meals.
Similarly, we receive calls from Build UM Pride 406-541-8254 - probably related.
They do this every year usually in Nov-Dec. This year they started early in Sept.
If you read this you should know by now that I'm neither going to answer nor give you any money.
Calling every day and never getting an answer should send a signal. This is a nuisance and reinforces my determination to never give a dime to UM. In prior years, I asked to not be called but that didn't register either.

I also used to work at the phone-a-thon! And just received my first alumni call tonight...ahhh the memories...

Tip: Don't make them cry for calling you during dinner! Just don't pick up the phone! ;)

I just got a call from this number today.  A young woman asked for me by first name and hung up after I said "speaking."  She did say thanks.  I did a search of this number and it came up as a landline number at an unlisted address accross from the courthouse on W. Broadway Missoula, Mt.  Why and how someone obtained my cell phone number is beyond me.  I'm puzzled as to why they seemingly needed to verify my name.  U of M phone numbers all have a 243 prefix so I'm pretty sure it's not a university phone.  There are several business'on that block and I'll have to investigate them to see if there are any obvious connections.

Oh also, if you are on the UM do not call list that does not necessarily mean you are on the UM Foundation call list, as the UM Foundation is actually a separate entity. So that might explain if you still get these calls. You still have to tell the UM Foundation you want to be on their no call list.

I received a call from this number, as well as 541-8258. It makes sense it must be the UM Foundation. As a former UM Foundation employee, as well as a current alum receiving these calls, I really do not mind the calls. I remember what it was like being the caller and just trying to do my less-than-thrilling job so I could pay for my text books. Also, some helpful information for all of us recipients is that if you do answer the phone and request to be removed from the list they will stop calling. However, please be courteous. These are just kids who aren't enjoying it any more than we are.

I will NEVER give to the UM foundation again because of these phone calls.  I've given every year for the past ten years when I received a mail request.  There's a reason I'm on the DNC.  I do not want to be bothered at home!!!!!  PAY ATTENTION U of M.  YOU GET NOTHING FROM ME EVER AGAIN!!!

This number is from the UM Foundation phone-a-thon.  It is being staffed by student callers.

All UM numbers start with 243, so since they seem to come in with 541, I don't think it's a UM number.  I've been getting calls to my cell phone from 541.8260 and 541.8255 for about a week now, as well as a weird text from a 702 area code.

I have been receiving calls from this and related numbers for 3 weeks (2/4/09-2/26/09).  Other numbers:  406-541-8257, 406-541-8259, 406-541-8262, 406-541-8263, 406-541-8265.  Seems to be about 2 a week, 6 calls total.  They never leave a message, I've never answered, and once I was called at 6:39 a.m.  This seems to be the most common number used.  It could be connected to the U of M, since I graduated from there as well.  I think they sold an alumni list to some credit card company.  Don't think it's directly from UM though.

Here are the three calls that I have gotten in the past week.  All with no message.

11/13 8:15 PM  406-541-8265
11/18 7:55 PM  406-541-8255
11/19 7:24 PM  406-541-8264

I read in the Missoulian the other day that with Griz-Cat weekend upon us, both schools are competing to see how many new alumni they can get signed up before kickoff.  I assume that is the source of the calls, a bunch of marketing students that are assigned phone duty one or two nights week.

Hopefully the calls will end after Saturday.

I also got a call from the 8261 number, and figured it was the U calling for a donation to the annual pledge drive, but they never leave a message, and they have been very persistent.

Very odd.  Starting to wonder if I have an outstanding balance at the Rhino Room!

I too received several calls from a 406-541-8261 number.  Last night I answered it saying "this is Jamie".  There didn't seem to be anyone on the other line but maybe there was... I am a U of MT alum.  I don't want our information to have been obtained from the U for other purposes.

I am receiving almost daily calls from a similar number (406-541-8262). Never a message. I decided after a few calls that it wasn't a friend from my U of MT days, since there is never a message. Given the connection to the U of M...  I'll be interested to see what is uncovered by  perturbed81. I am contacting the U of M to report. Hopefully others will, too.

I've also been pestered by this caller. Also, 406-541-8265, which is probably the same source. Maybe the University of MT...?

I've gotten this phone call every week day, once a day for about a week. It is not a family member or friend. I know the area code is from Montana. The caller never leaves a message but continues to call.
