I just got the same text! Its a regular phone number and not the text number that google uses for messages so its obviously a scam. I just can't figure out why they would do it. Are they hoping for a text response from me?  What are they after??

hey guys this really is from Google accts because I requested a password reset after someone hacked my email and this is the number the verification code was texted from.

I don't think it is from Google.  Google texts from 466453 (not a full phone number) and they are different every time.  When GOOGLE sent me my codes (3 times today because of multiple hacking attempts from Korea) this was the case.  When I got texts from this number (4065454963), the code was the same both times.  The texts from this number corresponded with both browser access attempts from Korea.

ALSO, I think this may be a way for them to try to match your email addy to your mobile number so they can double their hacking fun...  Although admittedly, I'm no hacker so I don't know exactly what is going on.  I DO know it's been a pain in the rear today dealing with this crap.

Got a text from this number right after I got my gmail account hacked. I wouldn't advise replying to this number.

I recently have had my Gmail account accessed from China, and so I set up the SMS account recovery.  Now in the "Recent Activity" it shows my phone logging in several times during the night.

Same here, I got a text message as "Google 7939296" and nothing else.  Had no clue what it meant.

Just got the same (Google AAccount recovery code) as a text message on my cell phone.

I got this message as a text on my cell phone.  All it said was "google 653179" and it was from the same number:   406-545-4963.  I find it unusual that this code would be an unlock code for a password recovery worded in such a manner from google - unless I was a target of a hacker.

This is a text from google for account password recovery.  Someone probably put your email address in when they were trying to unlock their own account (i.e. summermoon@gmail.com and summer.moon@gmail.com)  Don't worry about it.  The people can't get into your account or anything like that.

Same as previous - Google recovery message.  Wonder why it has a Montana area code.

I also received a message in Spanish in the same terms and giving a recovery code. By the way, I'm Spanish but I live in the US. Something's fishy in here...

I got a message from this number in polish.  Like others, it was regarding a google recovery code.  My name is Polish, so I guess this scam assumed it would be best to send the message in my native language.

I'm not sure how it's supposed to phish any info.  Perhaps you can enter the code in google and it somehow allows access to your google account.

I wouldn't replay or act on the message.  I do wonder if they somehow know that I have a google account or they're just blanketing everyone.

I also received a text from 406-545-4963 that said:

I assume the language is Portuguese, it appears to mean the same as the rest of the messages. I sent a reply text but got no response. My last name is somewhat common in Brazil, but I am from America and do not speak that language....

Received three texts from this number over a matter of a few minutes - two in German - regarding a Google recovery code.
