JOHN, YOU ARE SO RIGHT!  WHO IS IT SO UNINFORMED AS TO FALL FOR THESE CREDIT CARD SCAMS?

This is a credit card scam. I have been getting these calls from various numbers for over a year. I have actually spoke to people and asked to be removed from the list. HA! they  call even more. So rude! Now I just block each number. I do not answer long distance calls. If it is a legitimate caller, they will leave a message. I block the numbers. It is a "robo dialer" so the calls keep coming! Wish someone could catch these scum bags!

1:30 PM, June 2. 2014. Cell call from unknown area code.(406). Did not amswer.

Robo-call claiming to be Discover credit card, offering to lower interest rates on my account.  I don't have an account.

I am on the do-no-call list, clearly this company is violating several laws.

Automated "lower your interest rate" type scam call.  I spoke with a "Leo Gonzalez" from "the credit bureau."

I've got an old Capital One card from an account that has since been closed, so I gave him the 800 number on the back, and scrambled the card digits when I gave him the info.  Obviously, he couldn't find my "account" in their system.  It was pretty funny.

All in all, I was able to successfully waste about 8 minutes of his time.  You are all welcome.

As you know by now, DO NOT CALL is a joke.  Follow the money.  If this were a serious program these scammers would be out of business in short order.  DO NOT CALL affects only the legitimate.
The sad part is that there are enough unfortunates taken in so that it is profitable for the scammers.

I agree with everything you said, and I don't answer any call with an area code I don't know or a number that is new to me.  If it's my area code and I don't know the number I call back because the jerks on the phony calls won't accept calls.  And the government is just worthless about these types of things but that's a different story for another time.

These calls are getting to be too much.  This is a do not call phone, but what does that do for you when they keep calling even when you tell them not to???

I, like the rest of you, receive these calls all the time.   Our government is WORTHLESS, especially when it comes to blocking these calls.  

Your only other course of action is this:  

Do NOT, under any circumstances, answer a caller you do not recognize.  When you do, all you are doing is confirming for them is that they have reached a viable, working number and then they WILL call you back PLUS they will sell your number to other scam artists so they can call you too.   If they continue to call then first, check with your phone service and see if they have a call blocker service (mine does).   If I continue to receive calls from a certain number then it goes onto my "Blocked" list.  

Also, just pressing 1 or any number they say to remove you from their list is also a scam.   It doesn't work either.   Also, I turn off my answering machine when I am home.  If it answers them, then once again it only confirms the fact that they have indeed reached a "Working" number and they WILL continue to call you.   Have a pleasant day.  Sure am glad too for websites like this.    

Thought for the day:  I Wonder what would happen if everyone stopped answering these calls.   IF they got no more answers then would they just give up and die ?

I will add that by using these tactics, there are days now when I have NO MORE phone calls from scammers!   Only had one in the last three days now.    Please folks, don't answer these phone calls.  Use your caller ID's.

I do not answer calls I do not recognize... especially out of state calls. I get them almost daily-never the same state or number. Once when I was uninformed as to these bozo calls, I answered. They said they can lower my credit card rate. I laughed because I do not own a single credit card and when I told him that he just hung up.  What a tough job they must have. How many successful calls do you imagine they have in a day? I hope they work on commission. I imagine they quit real soon, thus making the credit card company able to keep their payroll to a minimum. They are using and abusing their employees.! BTW the do not call does not work with them because they do give a phone number on my caller ID. They never leave a voice mail message. I'm tired of the calls!!!

I think having fun with these low life's is great, but those of you who give them fake credit card numbers -- do you realize when doing that you could be giving them someone's credit card for real.  I also notice some people make up fake social security numbers to give them -- this is also wrong to do.  Somewhere, somebody will have that number.  Like I said it's fun to mess with them but do it so no one else out there get's hurt.  I also think the more you mess with them the more they call.  Just like the window's scam.  I just block them.  This credit card scam has way too many numbers to block.  I just don't pick up the phone.  I check on here first to see who has called.  Then I either block or don't answer.  My phone only rings 4 times and goes into the answer machine.  Being on the do not call list is great, but they cannot track down spoof numbers.  

I do the same, Clem.  Then again, I screw around with Nigerian princes, telling them I'd love to help them free up their vast fortunes by providing a bank account for them to bounce their bucks into.  I never let it go anywhere and always give them fake info - sometimes stringing them on for weeks on end.  Unfortunately, these robocall turds have much more high-tech means to determine that I'm just goofing on them and get rid of me much quicker.  I wish there was a way state's attorneys general could come down on them and get it all stopped.

i request every man  to answer them and ask  them what is their rate to have  sex in their rear. This may be the way to let them know that we are aware of they are scammer.

Calling my cell phone

I get these robocalls from credit card companies every day and always press #1. I like to see how long I can keep the person on the phone for. Give them fake details but a credit card number that is just a couple of numbers off - so it looks right but the algorithm wont work. Great fun!

Had a call on my caller id from a  number 406-673-5421 today. No one there. No message or nothing

"Rachel, from Card Holder Services."  I added it to my Reject list.

Received phone call at 11:31 am, nobody talked, so just hung up - this has happened several times!

Update, they called again, this time as I set up for no ring I did not realize the call came in. I am not certain as to the validity of this tidbit, but somebody told me that Indian Reservations do not necessarily have to comply to all federal laws, such as DNC lists and these calls could be coming from such a location. I checked my over 200 blocked numbers and oddly I have about 12 from this area code, of which I do not know anybody within 500 miles of MT nor do I conduct business with anybody in that area. Peace

Just got the same call..got no answer..tried dialing back got the reply your call can't be completed..THIS HAS GOT TO BE STOPPED!!!!

got robocall from 406-673-5421 caller ID said " UNKNOWN NAME" on Thursday 05-28-14 @ 947 AM.

First time getting this message.

Male voice starts off right away with "Do not hang up! This is an important message from Discover Card........
press 1 to talk to a representative or 3 to be removed from our list."

This time I decided to do neither. The message did not repeat and shortly disconnected.

First time from this group. Recorded message claiming "an important message from Discover Card".  Pressed "1" to ream out a live operator, but call disconnected after a bit.  Tried dialing the number, but it doesn't go through.

Just saw a news segment on one of the top violators of the do not call list.  "Jay Gotra" is CEO of "VMS".  Would love to make HIS life miserable!
