Picked up on the second ring - a "robocall" said they were calling to offer me a lower interest rate on my credit card, if interested press 9.  I pressed 9 and went into hyperspace.  I hung up after less than one minute.

I've received 2+ of these calls, also offering to lower my credit card interest rates.  The last call was on 7/6/2009 and was also a robocall which is illegal in the state of NC unless certain conditions are met.  Those conditions were not met.  I returned the call and was cussed out when I refused to give them any information.  The call was reported to the NC Attorney General's office as being in violation of several of the tenets in the NC legislation on telemarketing calls.

First call today. I don't know where people get a number with a prefix of 000. I wasn't home; left no message. No caller ID. I keep numbers like this on a hand written list near my phone because every so often I list the numbers on my state attry general websote do-not-call registry. I might not know what happens on the other end but I do know I do something when I don't like something. So the guy who got hold of a rude person is something I would definitely report...number and abuse. I did that once and got a direct response from consumer protection; the abuser got probation.

I remember these people!!  They are in India, he said 'New Delhi'  and if you get into a discussion with them, they are as relentless as they are persistent about calling. They have a scam.
They say they have agreements w/all the maj. credit card co.'s and that if you let them negotiate they can get you a lower int. rate and a quicker pay-off. I kept asking questions, because I knew I could negotiate with the CC co.'s myself (CC is my shorthand for 'Credit Card').  The guy kept saying, over and over,  that since they had the contracts w/all the maj. co.'s  that you could never get the interest rate he could get for you.  They are very convincing and persistent and aggressive!!
It turns out they get a percentage of what you pay. If you are paying a past due bal. at $200 a mo. at 26%, your bal. will continue to grow each mo.  They say they can get you they same $200 payment. at 6% and you will pay amt. off in half the time - the trick is they get a minimum of $55.00 for each sucker they land.   Like debt collectors for companies get 20% of all money they can bring in - these guys do same for Credit cards.
I wonder if they buy the debt, then chg. you 6%, and  get their $55.00 min. every month (so you still pay $200, but they get $55.00 of it, so you are really paying only $145.00 toward the debt), all they while convincing you they have negotiated in your behalf...  or are they getting money from the CC co. to get the payments and then ripping off part of your payment - thus getting paid by both parties?  No wonder they're so aggressive!!   I remember they said I would be making the  payment to them, not to the  CC co.
GIVE THEM NO INFO - BIG SCAM   The CC co.'s may be a party to this, to get their money.  (CC is my shorthand for 'Credit Card')

Got a call from this number, but was on my phone at the time.  I tried to call it back and the recording said, your call can't be completed as dialed.

I have received numerous calls from this number.  Today I received another call and answered it on the second ring.  The voice was a computer generated message asking me about lowering credit card rates.  Yet, I have not a single credit card.  I pressed the number "9" to find out more about these calls and a live male voice answered "are you calling about lowering your credit card rates?"  I responded "the interesting thing about the call is that I don't have any credit cards".  The live male operator responded "what is even more interesting Stephen is that I don't give a f......k what you are saying to me" and then immediately hung up.

When I called the number back I got a "quick busy" signal indicating to me that this is a bogus or otherwise not dialable phone number.

I would like to know what is going on with this number and have them stop calling me.
