Mr Plumb is awaiting jail in America for using the same tatics as Eric Ormerod in the UK  The reason for them being allowed to use UK Sport's name and website location is that the print for UK Sport free of charge.

The people they employ use fake names a lot of the time and that is to disguise the fact that they are working and claiming benefits.  It is a thoroughly unsavoury operation.  I wonder if the police know this fact.

I was contacted yesterday and then a further follow up call today of 50 mins. Unfortunately I gave them my credit card details but they said they could not access it as I had further security on it and could I process it through the site myself .... On typing in the company name I found the above posts and have cancelled my card in the hope that they have not already accessed it!??

The company under the guise of MBUK travel guide actually contacted my husband who is english. We actually live in Bali and have a dive operation here and this guy name "Rob" was trying to get usto advertise on their website. He was very enthusiastic and very on-the-ball and kept calling us etc. He gave us access to the website : www.mbuktravelguide.co.uk and though everything seemed legimate, after several search I realised it was pretty much an ineffective website as any search you make comes up with "no record found". I did a search on them on google and the first thing that came up on the top list was the website below :www.laymyhat.com about their scam. i have to be very open here and say that i am really really surprised that noone has done this lot some serious physical damage

i am guessing that perhaps a 500 quid loss to most of we homeowners is a lot to get peed off about but not enough to reek vengeance...

if i was loaded and could get away with it - which you are more likely to if you are - then i have a dozen ways to get back at these tossers

Yes, they got me through MBUK too. And I think they're getting a bit cocky as I investigated them after seeing an unfamiliar reference on my credit card statement - surprise, surprise - Ormerod & Associates and when I looked, this was a second payment in two months. Can't believe I missed the first, what an idiot. Anyway, they've had £300 off me now (2 x £149)

Surprise, surprise again, when I repeatedly ask how they're getting on with my website, they say they're having problems accessing my photos from my email. Yeah right.  I'm not even trying to get the money back off them at the moment. Have gone through the credit card company for now instead and have, of course, cancelled my card.

Even if you can be persuaded they're kosher (which they're not) you won't get any bookings through it anyway so why bother taking the risk??

Also, has anyone tried using the discounts they offer to places like Thorpe Park?  Am interested to see what happens if you try to follow through with them.

I have just had money taken from my credit card by Ormerod ad associates layland also known as Force Travel club They had affered me a 2 year listing and now not even a year later they have taken money with out permission form my credit card!!
I have not had one enquiry from their so clled popular website.
                     i have now had to cancel my credit card so they cannot do this again. Beware all who are contacted by Force \Travel sales persons They are as slick as they come They are should be closed down as they are a total scam!!!

Seems the same people are calling from it too. Yeap, same thing: received a call in May and the same email as above but signed by Rob Worth. Kept chasing us... BEWARE!!!

I have been called by a Stuart Wilson of this outfit on the 19th May 2010, He sounded very dodgy and my perception was that the market they were targeting was far too limited. His claims were just too good to be true, as most scams are. Below I have attached the follow up email he sent me. I had a missed call today, 4th June  on my mobile, and rang the number back as I did not recognise it and it turned out to be from Ormerod Associates on  01257 225222. Wilsons email makes interesting reading, After reading of so many people being scammed by these toe-rags, they should be given a very wide berth.

We do not know of original number used to call us as no mobile records. Yep we have the same problem. Web site does not work most of the time, impossible to log into admin today to update my calendar, not that we have had any enquires throught them. Tried telephoning them from a number on their email 01772 623491 - no opne answers
We also paid out for an 18  month listing having heard through a friend who new someone ex Police and had used it.
Moral of the story -  Never again will we advertise with any cold callers as the few we have have ALWAYS been a waste of money over the years.

I too was conned by a call to my mobile in July 2009 - a very hard sell full of promises .. I eventually agreed after being offered 15 months for price of 12 .. so it doesn't expire until October 2010  but this month they have taken £116.33 from my credit card.  They told me they were advertising in all police stations etc  but my next door neighbour, a policeman, has never heard of them .. also I have not had one single enquiry through it and also for a long time have been unable to locate the website any longer!  Total con.  Will now have to try and fight to get money back from credit card company.

I am not sure that I can be of help to those asking for advice- but here goes anyway!

You should certainly look at www.laymyhat.com  

On Laymyhat (which should be of use if you have been approached by Force Travel anyway) you can go to DISCUSSION FORUM,then  SEARCH "force travel and leisure".  This will reveal several threads about Force Travel Club: it has had different names: "ftandl", "force travel", "force group" etc.

You will then find that many others feel unhappy about the companies from Leyland, Lancs and the one from Orlando, Florida.

One thread has about 59000 hits as I write this. Some have got money back: this normally requires the threat of legal action.  A solicitor's letter speeds the process- the advice is there on Laymyhat- but it is not necessarily easy.  I have the opinion none of it would work without the apparent support of Police Sport UK. I have told PSUK this, of course.  They will not reply to me, claiming that Force Travel operates appropriately!

Lancashire Constabulary Professional Standards are said to have conducted an in depth investigation which says that Force Travel's trading methods are kosher!  To me this is a unique and bizarre  conclusion.  I have loads of evidence to the contrary:  Lancashire Constabulary do all sorts of handstands to avoid revealing the reasoning behind their conclusion.  They will not reveal their reasoning- they would not even take up my offer of evidence in their enquiry.

The press are interested in going public on the issue.  I am staggered by the attitude of Lancashire Professional Standards and of Police Sport UK.......particularly when the British Transport Police, St John Ambulance and the National Association of Retired Police Officers (NARPO) amongst others have ruled against Force Travel in the recent past.  Add to that comments on the Companies House website from the liquidator of the Limited Company Image Publications Ltd which traded as Force Travel and Leisure until it went into voluntary liquidation owing about £350000 and you will further understand my disbelief, perhaps.

If you are concerned you might ask Police Sport UK why they continue to allow their logo to be associated with Force Travel Club.  I should point out that the phone number at the top of this thread is the American one.  Mr Ormerod claims that this is nothing to do with him- it is associated with his former senior director, Vincent Plumb.  I am not sure how Mr Ormerod's name comes up on this number-but it it does seem to be known.

I was approached last May by this company and decided to advertise - same story as everyone else I'm afraid not one enquiry since then and they have taken a further payment from my card this month without authorisation. I have tried to contact them by email and so far not received a reply I am also in contact with the credit card people, don't know whether I will get my money back or not!!

22 Feb 2010. I too seemed to have been scammed by these people. It would seem that they are scamming people all over the world as I am from South Africa and since been taken by ROB, have heard nothing more from them. They give accommodation establishments a bad name and make it even more difficult to get bookings as people can no longer trust online enquiries, bookings etc. I was hoping to reach people from the UK needing accommodation with the 2010 world cup happening here in SA and that is why I decided to try them....my loss.

I've been ripped off by these guys too.  Signed up for a listing for two years only to find that £175 has been taken again after one year.  Have received emails from Eric Ormerod to say sorry and the money will be transferred back but no money yet and highly unlikely that I will ever see it.  The matter is now with the bank fraud department.  My card has been cancelled so he can't take any more money.  This guys needs stopping as he is using the Police as a way to gain your confidence.  I can also say that we didn't get one single booking from his website.  I'd be really interested to hear how you are getting on with your article

I have been amazed at the crooked scam these crooks pulled! I am a victim of it. They called me stating they WERE "The British Police Force" and they suggested that it was a good idea that I pay for their services. I did not like that at all but the chap on the other end of the phone (Rob) suggested that those of us who advertised with them were clear of inland revenue investigation (i.e. implying I would be liable to investigation if I did not join). I paid 150 quid. I have had no enquiries after 1 year...then, they charged my bank account AGAIN, at 12 months in, with no written or Email notification. I cannot get my money back. The crooks are never in when I call (you know..."she's just gone out of the office", or "he's at a meeting ...yes, all day I am afraid") and they never call back or answer my mail, E- or written. I have had NO support from my bank (the AWFUL natwest) who say it was my fault for dealing with criminals in the first place (and now I have to change my card, account , etc.!!)
AVOID ORMEROD ASSOCIATES of LEYLAND, Eric Ormerod is a thief and a liar and so are his stooges. AVOID FORCE TRAVEL. The police shoudl be ashamed not investigating this bunch of crooks!!!
