The caller has called me three time this past week.  The first time I picked up they said my first name -it was a man with an American accent but he was especially loud and eccentric. He jibber jabbered about some magazines and there was lots of noise in the background.  Then he said he was calling to make sure I was getting my magazines.  I replied that I had no idea what he was talking about and hung up.  The past two times they have called I ignored it but they do not leave a voice mail - Hmm, some important call that can be.  I don't know what type of scam this is but I know the area code is from Orlando, FL.  I would suggest not giving them any information.  I'm just hoping they stop calling...waste of my time.

Same thing happened to me in the morning. They had my address, name, age and even knew I lived in a house rather than an apartment. He said something about $19 for a magazine subscription and had the balls to start asking me really personal questions about my occupation, what kinds of credit cards I had, and then I hung up...very weird, much more strange than any other telemarketing calls received in the past.

This happened to me last night, well twice actually. My story is really similar to those here.
The woman, i forget her name, said that there was a problem with my magazine subscription, which i don't have. She never mentioned the company's name and she also had my address, which really freaked me out. I then asked if she could take my name off their list, she said yes then hung up.

Also, she knew my current address sans the apartment number, since she read my address back to me during the phone conversation.

I forgot to mention, the female caller had an American accent -- it was not identifiably "foreign."

A female claiming to be with a subscription service company offered to renew my magazine subscriptions automatically for a weekly fee.  I have no such subscriptions.  She could not say which magazines when I asked.

The call lasted 6 minutes.

She asked for my age and occupation, and what the local weather was like.  I told her, and I repeatedly said I should have no magazine subscriptions and she would only respond with what their service was and how much it cost.  She did not identify her "company" throughout the course of the conversation.

Eventually, she said that this would be the only time I would need to talk with "them" and that then "they" would remove me from their computer.  I thanked her for removing me, and hung up.

This could be a social hack.  Clearly it was a scam of some sort.
