Wow the more I read about these NRG scumbags the more it makes sense...They called me claiming to be investigators coming after me...Then they told me ' kidding' it was meant to be a sales tactic to get me to hire them if I had anyone owing me money...I told them I was owed $6000 from another company and I would use them ....IF! .....they sent me a contract in writing.

Boy were they insulted and proceeded to insult me then they got really ugly making me fear for  my safety..I received more phone calls from funny numbers from the same white trash person trying to make me commit to some kind of verbal recording.

They were very scary...so much so I filed a complaint with the police.

Caller identifies himself as GENE PETERSON and says he's calling in reference to an outstanding bill but never gives any details. Yells, screams and threatens. Has called back repeatedly and harrasses whoever answers and threatens lawsuits. Also calls from 461-521-1259. Since I am a private individual and have never incurred any debt as a commercial entity, this is totally bogus. Person on the phone refuses to listen to this and has called me a liar and a deadbeat at the top of his voice.

Both numbers identify as PETERSON. Also received a call from an invalid (masked) number: 281-000-0000 identifying himself as DOUG SCHULTZ a private investigator hired by DANIEL HUGGINS prior to a lawsuit. Number given for Daniel Huggins is same number as Gene Peterson.

it was a decent office. the boss Mr harlan seemed to have a lot of money to throw around. hed buy us breakfast sometimes lunch. we had a 3 times a week massuse ( if thats how you spell it). at first my fear and conscience didnt like how rude we were to what they call "gatekeepers"  or receptionists. i mean they curse at people ( me included) and act high and mighty to get the owners on the home. and once they do they tell him/her that we are coming to collect on them... a joke... some people got it but most get offended... i did well there and started closing more accounts thann most there within a week. (gloat) but i slept in one day was late called in the next and now im typping this from my crappy previoous job selling alarm systems... i dont like lying to people...

Tell me, Laughing Madly Outloud, did your last paycheck from NRG clear the bank?  From what I have heard, they all bounced.  I would think that would greatly swell the ranks of both ex-employees and disgruntled ex-employees.

Our company hired NRG to collect a $7000.00 invoice, the the company that owed us the money sent payment to NRG, and after four months we have still not received payment from NRG. Wish I knew someone in Plano Texas that could go "collect" my money from them.

You're absolutely right, NRG & Associates collect commercial and not consumer debt. OK, I posted from the hip and was wrong, my apologies.

Not that I am a fan of NRG, but you should really do your research before you copy and paste a long post that does not apply.  NRG & Associates is involved in the collection of commercial debt, i.e. debt that is owed by a business, and incurred for a commercial purpose.  The definition of a debt as contained in the FDCPA is as follows:

§ 803. Definitions [15 USC 1692a]

(5) The term "debt" means any obligation or alleged obligation of a consumer to pay money arising out of a transaction in which the money, property, insurance or services which are the subject of the transaction are primarily for personal, family, or household purposes, whether or not such obligation has been reduced to judgment.

The key terms here are "personal, family or household purposes".

Perhaps NRG should train their debt collectors to collect debt per the FDCPA. Legit collectors per section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf *must* tell you at initial contact, or send you paperwork within 5 days of initial contact, the following:
1. $amount of debt,
2. name of the current creditor (which may differ from the original creditor who might have sold your debt),
3. a statement that that debt will be assumed to be valid unless you dispute in writing within 30 days,
4. a statement that that if you do dispute in writing within 30 days, the collector must mail you written verification of the debt,
5. a statement that if you ask the collector in writing within 30 days, the collector must send you the name and address of the original creditor if it's different from the current creditor.
If you don't get the 5 disclosures, orally or in writing (you do not have to ask for them, the FDCPA requires collectors to provide them), treat the collector like you would any SCAMMER.
Has the statute of limitations for your state http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/SOL-by-State.html expired on your debt? If expired, don't pay.
Collectors generally have to be licensed by your state to practise (collect debt) in your state and you can find out by calling your state Attorney Generals Office. Ask if a license is required and does this collector have one. If not licensed, don't pay and file a complaint.
Read useful debt-collection FAQs from the FTC here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm
Be aware that scammers are using bought/hacked/phished loan application data to extort payments for fictitious debts from victims and victims' families and friends.
The FBI warns about payday loan extortion scams here http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710
The BBB has issued several alerts on this scam, just google "bbb.org alert phony debt collector"
Report to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

Lots of companies, legit and scam, use DBA (Doing Business As) company names to avoid being found or sued. HP is Hewlett Packard, the "Wal" in Walmart comes from Sam Walton's last name. Neither HP or Walmart hides their real identities. Can Haller Harlan and Taylor possibly be hiding behind the DBA company "NRG?"

I have worked for NRG for 2 months, the training was superior to any sales training I have ever had and it is not for the week salesman, that's for sure, weak salesmen can't and don't survive as NRG is not an NGO or a non profit organization. it is a shark tank and their is no room for dolphins.

Beware of NRG. They teach the employees to threaten and verbally abuse, but mostly are high school drop-outs used as cold callers working on commission, but rarely get paid. They make threats bec that's what is taught and encouraged.
