I called the number and the guy who called me answered. He is sitting at home with his wife. He gave the phone to her because he could not understand my "accent". I then called the Sanford Police Department where I was very politely told that there was nothing that could be done. Our only possible solution would be to go to our local police station and, if the option was available, I could file a "courtesy report" and then ask if it could be forwarded to them. At that time, if it was deemed credible, the report would be assigned to an investigator and I would be contacted at his/her discretion... In other words...get used to this guy because they don't care!

Several Calls... The first today (there have been others) came from (213) 533-2183. The caller (male) threatened my wife with a lawsuit and told her that he wanted to "eat her p#ssy". When she hung up, he called back immediately on a different # (413 -391-9388 which is Miami, the original # is from LA) and there was also a woman on the line (who seemed surprised to hear my voice and then disappeared). My wife handed me the phone and the caller told me that he wanted to "f#ck" my wife. He called his company, Legal Affairs. This has been going on for several days. He knew my wife's name...which would not be difficult through the phone book...but neither of us has "gender specific" first names...which, to me, means that he is cross referencing social media with the, public, phone book. IE - This guy knows who he is calling...

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Recently I received a call on my voicemail with similar threats, one of many payday loan related calls. However, the person they ask for is not me and she is always the subject of these calls. All of them until this recent call were informing this person her loan was approved. The first threatening one is the last one received. I was thinking someone who knows me applied to many loan companies for a loan as a gag, using the fictictious name. How else would all of these companies keep calling me asking for someone else who supposedly applied for a loan? Has anyone had this issue?

A man that I can't even understand and he can't say my name keeps calling and threatening me with legal action. I called back told them to stop calling me for the second time and he hung up on me.

I just received a call from this number that appears to be from Sanford, Florida. They claim that I had a loan with ChecknGo and never paid it off. As a result, they are taking legal action. While I applied for a loan with ChecknGo, I never went through with it. This is perhaps the 4th or 5th time I have received calls of this nature from scammers trying a scare tatic to get you to pay money to them.
The individuals never speak good English. They seem to have an India dialect.
