They called twice. No recording, nothing, so I hung up. First call left message saying "this call may be recorded or monitored."

Thanks for the clear up JBond I understand the weird phone call/phone hang-up situation now. Its just like you said that someone I know is in Orange County Jail and trying to call me and I need to set up an account at www.offenderconnect.com so that when they call me back, we can talk. Also if anyone thinks this is some kind of scam, its not, just check the Orange County Jail website (or whatever county website your phone message says its calling from) and this same information is listed under Inmate Phone Calls.  Again thanks JBond.

Received several calls from this number, called back got a fax sound. Some sort of scam? I don't know...really weird.

Received a phone call from 404-4238858, saying was a collect call from Orange County Correctional Facility and to accept the charges to press 1 . After that was a tap saying to call a 1800 number to make arrangements to pay the fee before received the call . I could right down the 1800 # so I try to call back the 407# and was always either busy or fax signal . That is a really BAD joke .

I didn't recognize the phone number so I let it go to voice mail.  I listed to the call and says it's a collect call from Orange County Correctional Agency and if I like to accept collect charges.

If you want to accept calls from this number, the Orange County Jail, on your cell or landline phone, you have to set up an account with Offender Connect.  Go to this link to sign up and set up an account ~ https://www.offenderconnect.com.

Once you do that you will be able to receive calls from the incarcerate individual who is trying to reach you.  It says it's a "collect" call, but it actually goes through Offender Connect.  Each call is approximately $2.45 for 15 minutes of talk time with the inmate.

Got the call today at aprox. 9:00 PM EST. My phone automatically stopped the ringing after one ring. Was called on my cell phone. I don't know anybody from this number. Did not answer. Left no message.

I got a call from 407-423-8858. I collect call from Orange County Correctional Facility. No name was given, and they hung up. My caller ID read: Inmate Tel.

GOT A CALL FROM THE NUMBER 407-423-8858 CALL SHOWED UP ON MY PHONE AS INMATE TEL. I ANSWERED AND THEN THEY HUNG UP.

I received a call today saying orange county jail and gave my nephew's name, i tried calling back the number its a fax.

I ignored the call because I didn't recognize the number. I checked my voicemail and it had recorded the last of the automated message which stated that if I wanted to block future calls from this facility to press a number (can't remember the number).

No one I know has been arrested.

Please be advised that this is a scam. The individual has access to your personal information somehow to the point where when they call, their stating its a collect call from a family member in a correctional facility. Your first instinct is to accept the call. Do not accept!! If u do, its an automatic charge and the call will end. Please also be aware of the new prank call app that's out now where a person can call from multiple numbers, including numbers and caller id names that may have significant meaning to you.

Wife got the same call yesterday 01/25/2012 giving my sons name. Took a wile to locate my son but he was at church with a friend. Something strange going on!!!!!!

It is the Orange County Jail in Orlando, Florida. But it just so happens since it is a collect call cellphones can't receive the call so it just gets cut off. Collect calls can only be accepted by landlines.
