This number was on my phone today !! I reside in Nova Scotia !!!

Hey, I hope you few come back here to check because I am also from Halifax, NS, Canada... I noticed this weird number on my phone when I got home the other day, but its more weird for me... 4 7 88 is my birthday :S and 47 is like my number (I know its common but my birthday is april 7th and its coincidentally portrayed into random things that happen in life... hence this).

 I really wanna know who the hell this is I'm trying to find out and if I can I'll come back here and post it up.

I got this number on my phone to but something weird about it the phone number went like this on my phone 1-140-747-8000  how could this be i checked there is no such number so i tried to call it back and all i got was a lady's voice saying Please check your number and dail again, but all i did was press the botton to show me the number and than press my on but and this happend so than i came backto the computer and tried 1-407-478-0000 and found you guys anyone else out there get the same thing as i did, i want to know who this number is!! Thanks

I just got a call from this number as well. It was one of those "Congratulations, you have just been chosen to receive a once in a lifetime offer... Press 9 to continue" and when you press whatever it is they ask, you start getting charged. At least, I think that's how it works. There was something about this type of scam on the local news within the last year or so.  I'm in Newfoundland, Canada.

just got a call from this number when i called it back it said leave amessage for i think it sounds like preston blackwell

They're calling here too. Don't call them back its a scam.

I'm from the UK, just had this call again for the 10th time, so this time i pressed 9, and just said take me off your database, she just said ok. lol
I know it will cost a bit, but it was a matter of seconds 2 mins max. I wouldn't of held on longer than a few mins.

Called at 14.41 today, nobody home to answer the call, apart from the dog,and I don't think he will have been best pleased to have been woken from a early afternoon nap!

Just got a call from this number with the same message as posted above by Ben. Hung up of course.

Just received a call in England from this number and just silence on the other end of the phone.  I called the number in Orlando back and got a fax machine.

Phoned at 10:50 am. I let the answering machine pick it up. No message. Toronto

Just got a call.  Automated message told me "Congratulations, you just won a cruise ... press 9 now!" so I did ...
Told them to remove me, whether or not they do that remains to be seen.

Obviously some garbage.

Came yesterday after not having any calls after putting my number on the "National do not call List"

The "National do not call List" takes 30 days from when you register for your number to be removed from any registered companies lists.  The problem is that this is a scam company that is outside of Canada, and is probably not registered as they are not be following the regulations.  We can however file a complaint, below is the info from DNCL:

If you receive a call and are concerned it may be part of a fraud scheme, contact law enforcement authorities or PhoneBusters (1-888-495-8501), a national anti-fraud call centre jointly operated by the Ontario Provincial Police and the RCMP.

I live in Quebec City and I've got a call from this number this morning..........a message says that I've just won a trip to the Bahamas.....who the hell are they?

Just received call as well - it is a fraud call - by no means give your credit card information

Had this number call me three time in three months, each time it says we have won an all expenses paid two week cruise around the Caribbean just press nine. Not likely!! I did think the first time it could be some company in Florida but didn't ring them back. Now I'm just ignoring it, it's very annoying though they called while I was in the middle of some cleaning jobs almost caught me off guard.

It's a telemarketer, but they can't charge you just for pressing 9. What exactly would they charge? It's not related to phone companies and it's not a 900 number. Just don't answer or if you do, don't press 9. I didn't answer because I was out at work. By the way, I'm in Montreal. I got a call a few weeks ago from a different number telling me I'd won a trip to Disneyland. I pressed 9 for s**ts and giggles and spoke with a nice man who tried to convince me to give him my information. I declined. Anyway, it seems as though they don't even know names, just random number dialing.

I got a call tonight from that number - when I pressed 9 - to ask them nicely to remove my number, as I am on the "do-not-call" list. The A hole telemarketer said "NO! we will not remove you number" and then proceeded to hail abuse at ME! And then started laughing at my accent and continued with the abuse! I put the phone down - but it really upset me.. after all they called me and I was polite to them. Friggin Americans! I am in Edmonton Alberta. I wish someone would put a stop to these idiots!

Now we have to find out there email addressand then all of us who are being innondated with these advertisers email and overflow their emails maybe thiswould stop them from calling and pestering us who have theluxury of having a phone.

I told this number when they called i was on the national do not call list and they said we dont care you will be charged 378 dollars as soon as we hang up on your phone bill. what f***in a**holes. I have reported it and gave mr blackwell a nice message

I got this call and it told me that i was the winner of a trip in orlando! That they needed my credit card number and they will send me the tickets!

Everyone has to understand that The National Do Not Call List does NOT work.  If you are Registered on the Canadian List they will call you from the US.  If you Register on the US List they will call you from Canada.  This Balances out to NO List at all.

Plus, Anyone can call you from anywhere, using VOIP Service showing any number on call display from anywhere.

Everyone needs to get VOIP Features to "Counter Effect" the problem.  This number and other call me everyday, but my Phone Does Not Ring.....I see them on my Web Portal, I laugh at them everyday.  I also sometimes have Fun with them, Forwarding them to themselves or Main Office Line.  I wish I can be a fly on the wall!!!

Just got my bill from bell with a 131.92$ phone bill charge from that number
F***ers !  1-407-478-0000 and Bell Canada says the number was dial from here

This is my friends home number. Some scam company is faking the caller ID they are using and just happened to pick his number as the fake. Unfortuantly for him they chose his number.  This is his house number and he has had it for years and does not want to have to change his number but he is now getting tons of calls from people thinking they are phoning back the scam company.  His phone company is trying to help him but there is not much that can be done on his side.

For people getting these calls there is a way for your phone company to find the real number through something called a knock.  Call your phone company and tell them when the call came in and they may be able to help you. Let them know that the caller ID you got was a fake and they may take some action for you.
